Keep seeing mixed opinions - some says its useless now , others getting results from it for those still doing it, is it actually working or just slower/ harder than before? and is it "guest posting" thats dead or just spammy mass version of it ,
curious what ppl are seeing in practice, not just theory.

as far as my experience goes guest blogging is not yet totally dead though the mass posting method has definitely seen its glory days. however a few good placements on some crediblle websites can certainly drive traffic to ur site, promote ur brand name nd even offer some SEO benefits.

I don’t think guest posting is dead; I think the approach has changed. Mass publishing on unrelated or low-quality sites is much harder to justify today, but relevant placements on genuine websites can still be useful.

For me, the biggest factors are relevance, content quality, the site’s actual audience, and whether the link makes sense in context. I’d focus more on the quality and purpose of each placement rather than trying to build a large number of links.

I think guest posting still works when it's focused on relevance and quality. What seems less effective today is the mass-produced approach where the main goal is getting links rather than providing value.

I would not say its dead. The mass spammy stuff is mostly what stopped working. If you are posting on relevant sites with real audiences and decent content it can still be worth it.

guest posting is not dead imo, the easy spammy version is. a few relevant placement on real sites can still work well, especially when the content fit the audience.

Since I am on the seller side of this, here is what I actually see in practice.
The gap isn't really between “dead” and “not dead.” It's between what clients think they are buying and what can actually make backlink valuable.

A lot of buyers still focus heavily on DR. they want DR50+ and stop there.
But some of the better backlinks I have seen are not necessarily the highest DR sites. They're the ones where the actual page linking out ranks for getting real organic traffic, and the link makes contextual sense within the content.

A DR20 site where the linking page gets 2K monthly visitors from relevant searches can be far more valuable than a DR60 site where that page gets no organic traffic and is packed with dozens of outbound links.

Guest posting isn't dead. I think the outdated part is how people judge guest posts.

niche based guest post with DA 40 to 60 with traffic and less spam score is gives results in 2026. human written content mainly

guest posting is not dead imo, but the old bulk link approach is fading. relevant sites with real traffic nd useful content still have value.

guest posting has not died imo, it’s the spammy way that made it fail.relevant websites with actual traffic and good content still have a lot to offer other than the link,

I Don’t think guest posting itself is dead. Relevant posts on real sites can still help, but the old mass-posting approach with low-quality sites is much harder to rely on now.

Guest posting isn't dead, but the approach matters. It works best when the site is relevant to your niche, the content is genuinely useful, and the link is earned naturally. Mass guest posting mainly for backlinks is much riskier.

Spam version is dead. If you are doing it on quality blogs, you will see good results. But be prepared to invest good money for this.

It's like saying SEO is dead lol, guest posting is still the best way to gain ranks beside niche edits and you just need to know about content, relevancy and quality. The problem is competition is becoming harder each day so you need to have more money to spend on links

Simple

No, it isn't. A good backlink from a relevant website, with good content pointing to your website, will never harm your website. It's the spammy mass guest posting that's the problem.

Honestly, this question comes up every year, haha. Guest posting isn't dying, but the low-quality, mass-produced version of it probably is.

Pick the sites yourself beforehand so you know where your links are coming from; don't just buy random guest posts and hope for the best. Search engines look for relevance, authority, and trust; without those, it won't move the needle much.

So it's less "guest posting is dead" and more "the bar for a good placement went up." Same tactic, just needs more selectivity than before.

I don't think guest posting is dead. It can still work when the website is relevant and the content is useful. Do you still use guest posts in 2026?

It's far from dead, there are site owners and agencies spending major monthly budgets for guest posts on highly relevant sites.

But as with everything, high relevance and quality will have its price - you get what you pay for.
