What made you stop buying domains just because they looked good for SEO?

SEO metrics can make a domain look stronger than it really is. Old age, backlinks, or past traffic are useful only when the old topic, link profile, and future use still make sense together.

If the domain cannot fit a real site, offer, or buyer intent, the SEO value becomes much weaker.

The biggest lesson was that a strong backlink profile doesn’t guarantee a successful project. I’ve seen domains with impressive metrics struggle because the audience intent wasn’t there. Now I evaluate the business opportunity first and SEO metrics second.

A domain can look useful before a project starts.

Then traffic, trust, monetization, or buyer interest gives a different answer.

For SEO or affiliate projects, what experience changed the kind of domains you buy now?
I used to focus mostly on metrics. now I care more about clean history, relevant backlinks and whether the domain actually fits the niche. A good looking domain can become a headache if the trust is not here.

Seeing good metrics but weak traffic and conversions changed it for me. I care more about the domain's history, relevance, and actual traffic than just DR or backlinks.
