I know this topic gets mixed opinions, but from my experience, when done properly, PBN's are still one of the fastest ways to move rankings - especially for new sites or stuck pages.

Here's the positive side most people don't talk about enough:

  • Full control - You decide anchor text, placement and timing. No waiting on outreach or approvals.
  • Speed - Unlike guest posts or niche edits, you can push links live instantly and see movement much faster.
  • Consistency - No relying on flaky site owners or disappearing links. Your network = your rules.
  • Scalability - Once your system is in place, you can scale across multiple sites and niches.
  • Testing power - Want to test anchors, pages, or strategies? PBNs give you a clean testing environment.
A lot of people fail with PBN's because they cut corners. But when built with quality domains, proper hosting, and clean footprints - they can be a serious asset.

I've personally seen pages jump from nowhere to page 1 just by strategic PBN support.

Curious to hear from others here:

Are you still using PBNs in 2026?
What's working best for you right now - homepage links, inner pages, or tiered setups?
Buyers: what do you look for before trusting a PBN seller?

Let's share your real experiences

PBNs are grate for ranking but you need a network without any footprints to be safe. I've seen many new sellers who reuse same wordpress template for all their sites. Such low effort PBNs discourage buyers.

Yeah, PBNs still work if done right.

They’re great for control and quick boosts, especially for new or stuck pages. But the risk is still there; one footprint mistake and things can drop.

What’s working is keeping it clean, using quality domains, and mixing with other links instead of relying only on PBNs.

Good for testing and pushing rankings, but not something I’d depend on 100%.

From what I’ve tested, PBN still gives strong movement when the domains have clean history and the anchor text is kept natural. Over-optimization usually causes problems.

As per my limited understanding, high quality pbns are very powerful.

But honestly I've never really delved into pbns much myself.

If your site is set up right I have no doubt in my mind that @splishsplash pbns services would absolutely help you rank though.

You really should read Tom's posts to be honest there's gold beyond what most even understand here.

And not just in regards to SEO.

But those ultra cheap ones that are $$ are probably going to be at best ignored or at worst harmful.

It's not a PBN if they send you a site list. Also PBN's that aren't under your control are a crapshoot. DA/DR can be faked. Also when 20-30 providers use the same spammed out PBN is it really worth your coin?

I've gotten niche posts that weren't even in the right niche when they were posted.

In 2026, do you purchase PBNs, or do you use PBN networks you’ve built yourself?
Do self-owned PBN sites offer better security and effectiveness?

Yeah, PBNs are still a strong method of support to improve rankings. Just a manual method of backlinks works better than an automated one.

I use homepage links and the pyramid method for my clients, and it's working as expected

Yes, from time to time. But they're only one part of my overall seo strategy, not the entire strategy. I combine them with niche-relevant backlinks, business directories, Web 2.0s, forums, and other link-building methods. It's the mix that has consistently given me the best results.

➤ Buyers: what do you look for before trusting a PBN seller?
Age of domain, IP, relevance (50% importance) because the relevant one's are expensive, the design or ui.

First off, I largely agree with what you've written, but there's one point I don't quite agree with: the idea that Google's gotten more aggressive with spam detection in 2026. My take on this: I wouldn't treat PBNs as a standalone strategy. Using them as a supporting layer, testing as I go, and picking domains with a clean backlink history are non-negotiable for me. At the end of the day everyone's risk tolerance is different, so what matters most is testing with your own data and going from there.
