Is seo still important for you tube videos in 2026?

i still pay attention to SEO, just not the way I used to. I make sure the title and description use the same language people would actually search for, but after that I spend way more time on the thumbnail and the first minute of the video. If people don't click or don't stick around, perfect SEO isn't going to save it. Search still brings me steady views over time, but recommendations are where most of the growth comes from

Yes, YouTube SEO is still essential in 2026 for improving visibility in search and recommended videos.

I still pay attention to YouTube SEO because it helps the algorithm understand what the video is about Good titles descriptions and keywords are useful but I think strong thumbnails watch time and audience retention have a much bigger impact on long term growth

Being lazy is when you think SEO isn't important.

Yes it works,we want focus much on thumbnails and it make 30 make the caption which is highly rated related to the content

honestly yes I still focus on SEO while ranking my videos, the title, caption, tags , decription each of that matters a lot

I see SEO as the foundation, not the whole strategy. If your thumbnail, hook, and retention are strong, SEO gives your videos an extra advantage instead of carrying them on its own.

I have been wondering how important seo is for you tube videos today. with you tube's algorithm becoming more focused on watch time, engagement and recommendations.

for creators and marketers here , do you still actively focus on you tube seo when uploading videos?

love to hear your experience
Yeah i still do basic youtube SEO. Titles, keywords and descriptions help discovery, but imo it is retention and viewer satisfaction that determines where the video will go from there

I still do basic YouTube SEO. A good title and description helps, but I spend more time on the thumbnail and keeping people watching.

I still consider YouTube SEO important mainly because it helps the right audience discover a video. Strong titles and relevant keywords can improve visibility but they cannot make up for content that viewers quickly lose interest in. In my experience valuable content and strong audience retention have a much bigger impact.

SEO still matters especially for search-based content and evergreen videos but recommendations and viewer retention are now bigger growth factors, the best approach is optimizing for both the algorithm and the audience.
