Can a new Instagram account still grow organically?

Organic growth is definitely still possible—I've found that posting consistent Reels, focusing on watch time and shares, and engaging with your niche audience regularly works much better than chasing viral trends.

I am wondering if organic growth is still possible on Instagram in 2026. What strategies have helped you gain followers and engagement without using ads?
One thing that rarely gets mentioned is content retirement because removing or archiving posts that attract the wrong audience can sometimes strengthen the overall profile more than publishing another new post.

Absolutely—it just takes more consistency than before.
I've had the best results by posting valuable Reels, replying to every comment, and focusing on shares and saves instead of chasing likes.

You are going to have to first Target a specific set of users using either automation follow/unfollow, or by manual; from there, once the audience is following your account, then when you post reels, it will get pushes to more people that have a similar interest.

Short reels (3–7 seconds) combined with strong hooks: Optimize loop rate by asking intriguing questions or titles within the first 1–2 seconds, transforming longer content into text overlaid on a short video background. This is quite interesting and a common habit among many Instagram users.
