BRo u are right but I practiced the same tool, Ahrefs to find competitors, It thrusted me miles long list. how can i shortlist the few

Check each and websites and find ones that are closely related to you niche.

Agreed. Looking at competitors with Semrush is a solid approach. It helps you find backlink opportunities that are actually moving the needle.
 
I also use this backlink reverse lookup method, but I find it hasn't really optimized for my case. I reverse-lookup nearly the top 5 competitors and try testing by going back to their quality backlinks. But my site isn't making progress, even though my on-page content meets the requirements and is of higher quality than my competitors (my personal opinion).
