Can a new Instagram account still grow organically?

Absolutely. Posting good Reels consistently every day is still the best ways to grow organically in 2026. Focus on strong hooks, content people want to share and staying consistent.

I think organic growth is still possible, but it seems harder than a few years ago. The accounts I see growing are posting consistent reels, sharing content people actually save or share, and engaging with their audience regularly

Engagement matters as much as content. Replying to comments, interacting with other creators, and encouraging shares helps your posts reach more people.

I am wondering if organic growth is still possible on Instagram in 2026. What strategies have helped you gain followers and engagement without using ads?
Mother child method is by far the best. Also you need to post extremely good content/pics/reels since there is much competition on IG nowadays...

Lately, I’ve been shifting more of my focus to Reels as a way to follow current trends on Instagram, and it has been genuinely effective.

growing organical with Instagram works for both new and old accounts, although it may look bot if apply on new fresh/ aday profile which still have the new tag on.

Ofc it does it all depends on the content, and it's quality if you have good reel content, then chances of growing organically increase a lot, but you have to be consistent. IG is a consistent game for the most part.

Still possible, but it feels slower than a few years ago. Reels seem to do most of the heavy lifting now, especially on fresh accounts. A couple of niche-focused post that get saved and shared can outperform weeks of random content.

Yes it does. You have to post content every single day. Never skip a single day. You have to use proper caption and tags ( related to your niche) bonus tips add story 2 times a day

Honestly the mother child method still works but its getting harder to set up clean accounts than it was even last year. @Nikolaos is right about that one. One thing nobody mentioned... watch your posting times relative to when your specific audience is actually online, not the generic "best time to post" charts. I had two accounts in the same niche, same content, one posting at the "optimal" 6pm slot and one i tested at like 11am because thats when my analytics showed people active. The 11am one pulled way better reach over a few weeks.

Also agree with @sopona on sends being weighted heavy now. Saves matter but a send is the algo basically telling itself the content is good enough to share privately, which is harder to fake. Just dont go overboard with the comment to dm automation, ive seen accounts get throttled when it looks too botty too fast on a fresh profile. Slow it down imo.

Yes, i've grown accounts organically and it still works. You dont need to use new methods or i dont know.

it's not going to work with all your accounts but it still works. It depends on your content too

Kumar's method shows that it's possible. — it's a matter of approach and creativity)))

Yes !! new Instagram accounts can still grow organically by consistently posting high-quality, engaging content and using the platform's discovery features effectively.

I am wondering if organic growth is still possible on Instagram in 2026. What strategies have helped you gain followers and engagement without using ads?
One thing that helped more than i expected was picking 3 to 4 content pillars early on instead of posting random stuff. The algorithm seems to reward accounts that stay in a lane, at least for suggesting your content to new people who watched similar things. Bouncing between totally different topics on a new account seems to slow down how fast it figures out who to show you to.

The most important point that i have learned is that an Instagram account should be able to provide consistient cues to the platform as to who its audience is. I would prefer being right to my niche and testing out different types of engagement techniques rather than posting everyday just to post something.

I’d say short-form vertical videos are probably the only way to achieve that. But honestly, it would mostly be vanity metrics — views and likes just for the sake of making the numbers look better.

That audience usually isn’t interested in consistently following the page or engaging with its regular content. Performance would depend on each individual post rather than on the average organic engagement of the audience.

So yes, the numbers would grow, but that kind of reach converts into sales very differently from targeted interactions generated through paid ads.
