Keyword tools often show low or zero search volume but some of these keywords can bring highly targeted visitors. I am curious how others approach these keywords.
Do you ignore low volume terms or do you create content around them when they match user intent?

Yes, it's better to ignore those keywords. You may have ranked for keywords that nobody is searching for, so there's no real benefit in ranking for them.

They're worth targeting if the intent is strong. A bunch of low-volume keywords can add up to a decent amount of targeted traffic over time.

Usually you should focus on 2 or 3 main words in an article... if you create content enough to cover keywords without many searchs but with high intent, do that. If not, just leave it alone, ever since semantic search, you'll end up reaching people using those keywords even if you build content around others

I would not ignore them completely if keyword fits the topic and answers a question Id still consider writing about it search volume is not always the full picture especially when the intent is very specific

You shouldn't overlook those keywords with zero search volume; if they align with user intent, they can yield surprising results. Therefore, incorporate them but in moderation to maximize the return on investment.

Absolutely. I don't rely solely on search volume. Many "0 volume" keywords still generate traffic because keyword tools don't capture every search. If the query matches user intent and fits my topical authority, I'll create content for it especially if it has commercial or informational value.

Some of my best performing articles started with keywords showing almost no search volume. I think useful content can attract traffic that keyword tools do not always predict.

I usually look at the topic and the reason behind the search. If the keyword shows clear interest in a product or problem, it may be worth targeting.

Yes!! zero-volume keywords can be worth targeting because many still drive real traffic, face low competition, and often convert better than high-volume terms.

Yes, zero volume keywords are absolutely worth it, especially for new sites. Third party tools often miss long tail traffic or highly specific buyer intent terms. If the keyword directly matches a specific user problem, targeting it can bring in highly qualified leads with zero competition before the tools even update their data. :)

I do not overlook them in case the intention behind them is obvious. Lower volume keywords can be useful in most cases because they tend to be more specific. In my opinion, the relevance, competition, and actual user problem are what matters the most here

Zero volume does not always mean zero searches. Some keywords are just too specific for tools to measure properly.

Yes, I think they are worth targeting, especially on a new website. Keyword tools do not show every search, and I have had pages marked as zero search volume bring in steady traffic over time.

If a term matches high commercial intent, I build for it every single time, those queries usually end up driving your highest-converting traffic.

Working for a zero volume keyword doesn't mean you will only rank for that particular keyword, you will get ranked for many similar keywords too related to that zero volume one and yes it helps. It helps bring in traffic.

I Never ignore low volume keywords if the intent is strong. Those pages often convert better and help build topical authority over time.

Keyword tools rely on laggy clickstream data that constantly misses long-tail queries—"zero volume" in Ahrefs or Semrush almost never means zero impressions in Search Console. However, if it actually fits your niche and has conversion potential, why skip it?

Aim for them since you will also get ranked on similar keywords.
