If i was given only one hour each day to spend then what I would prioritize are, updating old posts and improving links within the site itself. It is observed that the returns gained from such actions are higher compared to creating new content altogether.
After completing these, the rest of the time I will spend obtaining some really good quality backlinks instead of focusing on obtaining hundreds of poor quality links because from my experience these actions give me maximum productivity.

One of my time return on task ideas would be to audit pages which are receiving impressionns but not doing well on the click through or ranking fronts. I analyses the search queries that generate impressions and correct any disparity in the process by, for example, tweaking the title, adding one missing part of content or internal linking. This will produce better returns compared to writing an entirely new article in this hour.
In my opinion, the best ROI results from identifying those pages that have impressions but fail to generate clicks and high ranking positions. In most cases, I prefer to identify what the bottleneck is it can be related to the title, user intentions, lack of a certain part, or poor internal linking. It takes little effort to make a couple of tweaks and push the existinng page further than it would takes an hour to create a new .
