I was already considering Reddit, but Pinterest and video marketing are interesting suggestions too, i think in current era focusing on community building is more important to get traffic

I think social media can help if you do not want to depend only on google. pinterest reddit and email lists can bring good trsaffic when used properly.

Pinterest. Especially if you are building a pet or travel blog you can always get consistent traffic from pinterest.

If I were starting today, I'd focus on building an email list while sharing content on platforms like YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, or X. I'd also stay active in niche communities where my audience already spends time. The biggest lesson is not to rely on a single traffic source consistent content and multiple channels make growth much more sustainable.

A blog can also grow by getting traffic from platforms like pinterest, reddit and email newsletter. If you does not want to depends only on google for traffic then these platforms can also brings you traffic but it generally takes time and efforts.

I’ve found that building an email list and showing up consistently on platforms like LinkedIn, X, or Pinterest worked much better than relying only on Google. Being active in niche communities and creating content people genuinely want to share also made a big difference. If you're just starting, pick one platform to focus on, grow your email list from the beginning, and stay consistent with your content.

Email newsletters and communities can be great alternatives building your own audience gives you more control over traffic.
a blog does not necessarily need to depeend only on google. having a mailing list, building up a community nd posting content where the audience is locatted is a great way to ensure continuous growth. the greatest advantage is not the number of visitors but having people uh can trust.

makes sense that no single channel replaces Google, but stacking email + community + partnerships can. I am leaning toward starting with a niche community/guest posts to get initial traction, then using that to build the email list from day one rather than treating it as an afterthought, i wanna know which of these channels gave you the fastest early traction versus the one that compounded best long-term?
