Anyone using YouTube posts as a parasite?

I've noticed YouTube community posts ranking for my brand and I was thinking hmmm maybe people are using this for parasite SEO purposes.

They never used to index on Google because of infinite scroll but now they get a separate permalink.

This used to be a great trick to force faster indexing on Google, haven't used it in a while so not sure if it still works.
 
Indeed, having the separate link is quite significant in terms of SEO. Posts made in the community can become somewhat visible, particularly when searching for branded keywords.
However, I would not depend too much on this approach as one of the primary parasite ones.
 
Youtube, reddit, linkedin, etc. all work as parasites. If algorithm favors something, you can use it to rank for that keyword.

I use Reddit and YouTube shorts mostly but it's interesting to see community posts start indexing.
 
Yeah I've noticed that too some Youtube community posts are showing up in google now but i have not seen them make a big difference for seo yet they might give you a bit of extra visibility but i would not count on them as a long term strategy interested to hear if anyone has had better results

They Can show up in search result's, especially for branded queries, but I would not realy on them alone. They are a nice supplement, not a replacement for solid content on you'r own site.
 
Of course, the fact that you’re changing the permalink is going to make your community posts much more SEO-friendly because they’re going to be able to get traffic on branded terms as well as low-competition search terms.
I would see it more as something to supplement other marketing efforts...
 
Interesting. I knew community posts had their own URLs now, but I hadnt considered them for parasite SEO. Has anyone here actually managed to rank one consistently or do they tend to disappear after a while?
 
Yeah that checks out, n it's honestly a smart-ass parasite SEO play — YT's DA is basically untouchable, so a community post rankin for competitive/branded terms w/ zero effort compared to buildin a whole site's authority from scratch is exactly the kinda loophole SEOs jump on the second Google ships a new indexable URL structure, wouldn't be surprised if it gets nerfed/deindexed once Google notices the spam pattern tho
 
Seems they don't get a page title though just post by channel name.

Unless they change that so it pulls from the content instead it'll probably only be good for branded queries?

Thanks for the idea, I didn't even think about youtube, was only doing reddit, quora and vc...

Btw @Vynith how you do this with shorts? shorts can't have an active URL as I know

Every short gets a unique URL like a normal form video anyway.

What do you mean by active URL?

Shorts themselves index almost immediately on upload in my experience.

I believe that youtube community post nd shorts are really interesting becuz they have authority in themselves, but I will use them to complement the information provided and not for the purposes of SEO.
 
That is interesting. If Community posts now have their own URLs, they may have more chances to appear in Google search.
 
Yes, I've noticed that too. They seem to get indexed far more reliably now, allowing branded community postings to capture long tail traffic. I would not depend on those exclusively, but they are a great supplementary resource for your main site
 
it works well for brand mentions, i do use it
 
I added a community post 2 days ago after reading this thread (I then said I didn't even think of adding community post on youtube for SEO in answer #14), but only in 2 days my community post got indexed and it's ranked 2 for the brand keyword, it outranked reddit, linkedin, medium.

Yes, you cannot change the google search result title, but you can make the youtube channel name that you need (for example a keyword) and it will make 60-70% of the title.

Not sure if it's from the post (because I am not tracking) but got a spike in registrations too in the last 2 days.
