What SEO Strategy Has Surprised You with Great Results Recently?

Google revamped technical SEO requirements, so technical optimization definitely gives better results now. However, the importance of backlinks never reduced and it's still important to have high quality backlinks.

Been working on parasites > two-tier layered link building. Sometimes I push tier 2 with an indexer because I found that indexing the last layer helps get tier 2 indexed, and the top tier, which sends signals to the entire tier.
 
80% of my sites are now optimized with AI and links built with automation tools like GSA SER, except my tier 1 links. I buy emails and use catchalls to create tier 1 myself, and each tier 1 project is dedicated to a browser profile (lately the best thing I've done). Sometimes after doing SEO, the tier 1 sites dominate the market even before the money sites thanks to their authority. So if you lose access to them, you're going to lose a lot of things. It's not a strategy I'd say I wanted to share as a hard learned lesson.
 
For an Onpage Internal linking is more valuable than ever and for an offpage guest posts works very well when only done strategically.

Incredibly, content pruning proved more effective than creating additional pages, bcz prunning irrelevant or old pages allowed focusing the power of the link votes on the pages that needed it, and the performance of the site was improved.
 
I've been seeing lately is that content answering real questions people actually have tends to do much better than articles written just to target keywords. Focusing on useful, in-depth content and connecting related pages with solid internal links has brought more consistent results than chasing high-volume search terms. Curious to hear what strategy has worked best for you.
 
When looking at older content and updating them, it surprisingly worked better than I thought it would. I looked at improving some weak sections, added some clarity to answers, updated some details and tried to make internal links better. I noticed that a few pages gained rankings faster than the newer published ones, especially when the older pages had backlinks and search impressions already.
 
one thing that surprised me was focusing on refreshing old content instead of constantly publishing new articles updating outdated information improving internal links and matching current search intent brought noticeable ranking improvements with much less effort than creating content from scratch sometimes optimizing what you already have delivers the biggest wins

Indexing your lowest tier is not what you should be doing. The lowest tier exists to help index everything else, and should come from sources that are already indexed, or have clear paths to indexation (internal linkage). This is why comments of all types are typically the favourite for the lowest tier.

After adding internal links and having them re-crawled and indexed by Google, how long does it typically take to see an improvement in rankings?

competitors backlinks analysis worked Surprisingly well for me....

One approach that perfformed surprisingly well was taking care of improving user experience in addition to seo optimization. Such small tweaks as making text more readable, improving page speed nd providing more precise answers to user queries resulted in higher engaggement. In my opinion SEO works most efficiently when the visitor comes first.
 
One thing that worked well for me was targeting long tail keywords. They had less competition and brought more relevant visitors.

This is the strategy I have been doing for years however recently with the new AI era I am finding/learning new models/tools almost every hour to automate and make life much easier. But if you ask about the strategy that's what I've been working on.

PS: This strategy (tiered link building) only works with websites, niche websites, and ecom sites. So farr it hasn't worked for me with Utube videos.

I have a similar setup to you and have been doing it for some time and one of the easier strategies to automate. The only downside is we have some time to create accounts on those self-hosting sites and create solid tier 1 and the rest is automating with GSA SER. Do you automate tier 1 too? I am looking to automate tier 1 and still I couldn't find anything permanent. I know Money Robot has decent referring domains from their PBN however their price is insane and it can be used only once or twice per project so not worth it. I am now trying to automate tier 1 also with GSA SER.

What surprised me is that there were many cases when you had to make efforts in improving those pages which have been receiving impressions, but no clicks. sometimes just some small improvements such as more approprieate titles, sections, and internal links could bring muchh better results.
 
optimizing internal linking delivered better results than i expected. connecting related pages more effectively helped improve rankings for existing content without creating a lot of new articles
 
One thing that surprised me was improving internal linking on older pages I wasn't expecting much, but after connecting related content more effectively, a few pages started gaining visibility without publishing new articles
