"Stripe and buyout firm Advent International made a joint takeover bid for PayPal. Holdings in a deal that would value the fintech company at around $53 billion, according to people familiar with the matter. "

This from the Wall street Journal.

Seems like an interesting fintech consolidation, and will speak volumes to those that are banned from one and not the other? lol

What you think? will this be a better paypal and stripe company? or worse?

Hope that happens so that they can hire competent people for paypal.

If the deal goes through, I’d watch for changes to pricing, payouts, and compliance policies first. Those tend to have the biggest impact on businesses using the platform.

Given we use PayPal and Stripe to get diversity - this would be quite bad. Now if they don't like your business, you lose both accounts. This feels like lose-lose. Also fees: they will only go in one direction if Stripe acquires PayPal.

Both robbed me a few years ago, duck them haha

And a monopoly is not good, i'd love to see new names to reduce this dependence on Stripe+PP, but it seems things are like that, we are forever stuck in the same shit for years, there is nothing new popping up

Social media is the same shit for over a decade now, Meta swallowing any kind of new stuff and killing creativity...that fake sensation of ''competitive, free market'', in the end, just the same brands monopolizing everything

Stripe does the same

What do I think? Nothing

In the end, the platform won't matter except you master how to comply and use ANY platform without any issues.
