The biggest time drain in my business wasn't the work. It was chasing information.

I used to think the biggest bottleneck in a growing business would be getting more clients or hiring more people.
It turned out to be something much simpler.

Every day started with the same questions.

Who's working today?
Has this job been completed?
Why don't these numbers match?

None of those questions were difficult to answer. The problem was that the answers lived in different places, so someone always had to stop what they were doing and look for them.

That made me realize that a lot of operational problems aren't caused by a lack of effort. They're caused by scattered information.

Have you run into something similar in your business?

What everyday process wastes more time than it should?

You are right, organizing information is a real waste of time. for me, the most time-consuming part of my job is chasing down information from different colleagues. I gather bits and pieces from each of them, then put everything together to pass on to my clients or turn it into my own knowledge.

Absolutely, I’ve run into something similar. For me, it’s chasing down scattered project updates. The information exists, but it’s spread across emails, chats, and different tools. Pulling it all together takes more time than the actual work sometimes. Streamlined visibility would save hours every week.

Exactly. The work itself is often quicker than tracking down the information needed to do it.

That's been my experience too. Once information gets scattered across multiple tools and people, even simple tasks start taking much longer than they should.
