What happens if you dont post much of a description on a post can it still get views if it's hot?

Yeah, a bare-bones description won't stop a genuinely engaging video/post from getting pushed to the FYP the algorithm cares way more about watch time and engagement than caption length.

Yeah, I don't see why it couldn't otherwise, even if it's short or no description at all if the content is engaging enough.
A good caption is still nice to have though, generally speaking. If all else, it'll keep the reader on your post and maybe encourage them to comment. Keywords, hashtags, all that in there helps. Wouldn't leave it blank if I had something to put there, tbh. Nothing too much, after all the content ought to speak for itself.

Description hardly matters, In a Content Watch time, How catchy and interesting it is, Views and Shares, All of this matters more.
A Post with one word or one liner description performs much much better than a Post with Big Description but average content.

Yes it does. Even if the conttent is interesting nd grabs attention quickly, it can still get a lot of views. A good descriptiion will help with context nd discovery but it is usually the content that makes people stop nd watch.

The captions dont matter that much. Instagram is actually looking more at the device you. are using to post content. If you are using an older device, the reach will drop. If you are using a newer device, you will see that the posts end up getting more views. You can test this out for yourself
Even if the caption is poor it would not affect your reach becuz what matters most is retention, engagement nd sharing. however, an appropriate caption could be used to give your posts more value.

If the content gets people attention then a post can get plenty of views without much description. A good description is a bonus point but it's actually the content that makes the biggest difference.

Indeed, it will function effectively. Usually, a powerful hook and interesting content tend to have more weight compared to lengthy descriptions, even though an appropriate caption with a couple of keywords will help in adding some additional information.

It doesn't really have much of an impact. Honestly, the description just helps clarify what the video's about, and you can use it for SEO too, but if the content itself is strong, it can still reach and go viral regardless.
