Is SEO required for SaaS website?

No SEO is not strictly required for SaaS at the start. If your product solves a real problem, you can still get users through direct outreach, ads, communities, or partnerships. SEO just becomes important later when you want steady organic traffic without paying for every user.

Yes, basic SEO is enough at start. Just make clean pages, fast site, and clear content, then improve SEO slowly over time.

(Not a SEO guy) Okay, this might be a stupid question, but it often comes to mind whenever I think about building a SaaS product. Is seo required to get customers for a SaaS? for example, let’s say I build a product and put it live with simple pages like:

home
pricing
Faq
Other basic pages (according to product)

So my question is: do I need to do full seo research and rank my product to get customers, or if my SaaS product is actually good and solves a real problem, is that enough?
i've been doing user acquisition consulting for saas companies for 4 years. just like any other website on the internet that wants visibility, they absolutely need seo. yes it is definitely NOT ENOUGH. but it is a MUST.. unless you get visitors from organic serp, no matter how good your saas is, you wont be sustainable. in LLMs i mean ai queries, you either wont show up at all or you'll have to struggle a lot for it. what is left is paid visibility anyway and maybe social media and video but those alone are never enough.

SEO can be very important for SaaS websites, but I think its impact depends on the stage of the product. In early stages, paid channels and direct outreach might bring faster results, while SEO usually becomes a strong long-term acquisition channel once the product has validated demand. How do you balance SEO with paid acquisition for SaaS growth?

you need to do this not just to get serp traffic but also for llm visibility.. you already gotta do seo to show the unique tools in your saas project to everyone else anyway, which also brings in paid user acquisition. here is a real example.. i have an experience with a saas where all the users came from appsumo and it only had 2 months of subscribers, and we managed to get +6-8 new users monthly just by doing seo. btw of course while doing seo you also increase your overall visibility and this boosts the paid user acquisition too. also if there are people who consider seo as just getting worthless backlinks, im explaining these to emphasize that this is definitely not ehat seo is.

SEO is damn good to get customer, since they are people that actively looking for solution, so they must be warm leads.

With implement good SEO, you will automatically implement optimization for LLM i believe.

My suggestion, start create low bottom funnel content like alternative to [competitor], best [ category ],

My SaaS in 2 month, get 4 custoemrs from LLM with implement SEO technique like that.

Now we have 90 users, 10 customers in Month 4, without ads

A good product is essential, but SEO helps people discover it. You don't need to rely only on SEO, but it's a valuable long-term channel for consistent growth.

A great product is the foundation, but people still need to discover it. SEO isn't mandatory on day on, but it's one of the best long term customer acquistion channels. I'd lunch first, validate demand, then invest in SEO as the product grows.

You can get customers without SEO, but it usually takes more effort through marketing, networking, or paid ads. SEO just makes it easier over time.
