Are we overcomplicating SEO in 2026?

I think we're overcomplicating the conversation more than SEO itself. The fundamentals haven't changed much: create content people actually need, make your site technically sound, and earn trust over time. The difference today is that there are more places where people discover content—Google, AI assistants, YouTube, Reddit, and social platforms. The strategy has expanded, but the core principles are still the same.

Hey all,
Sometimes i feel SEO discussions have become too complicated while the basics still seem to work well. Do you think people are overthinking SEO or has it really become that complex?
Curious to hear different options.
Yes for beginners some times the SEO discussions is complicated and the reason is beginning. Because he enter digital market recently

I think the biggest mistake isn't overcomplicating SEO—it's measuring the wrong things. I've seen people spend weeks tweaking minor SEO details while ignoring whether visitors actually engage with the page or find what they need. If users leave quickly because the content doesn't solve their problem, perfect optimization won't help much. I'd rather spend an hour improving clarity, examples, or navigation than chasing another "secret" ranking factor. Good SEO should make the website genuinely more useful, not just more optimized.
