seo is just astrology for people with an ahrefs subscription and im tired of pretending its not

been in this game long enough to say it out loud nobody knows ANYTHING

thats it thats the thread but let me cook

every expert every guru every "case study" is just speculation dressed up as knowledge you stack 20 good things on a site and maybe it ranks maybe it doesnt and nobody can tell you which of the 20 actually did it if this was real knowledge it would be repeatable but its not you do the exact same thing twice and get two different outcomes thats not a strategy thats a slot machine twin

and explain this to me tactics from the dinosaur age stuff that should be stone cold dead in 2026 still works on some sites meanwhile the shiny new method everyone swears by flops on its face if google is this all seeing genius everyone keeps crediting how is fossil black hat still eating good

you take a blueprint that worked you SAW it work on a site you replicate it clean swap a couple variables and boom SANDBOX same recipe opposite result in any actual field that means you dont understand the mechanism but here we just call it "the algo update" and move on

and heres the one that breaks my brain the most you do everything perfect and i mean actually perfect every box checked every link vetted clean anchors clean profile topical authority built out proper silo the whole thing textbook and you STILL land in sandbox land then you look over and theres some random ahh wordpress site running a naked astra theme looks like it was built in 10 minutes no valid links no authority nothing fresh raw domain and hes just sitting there ranking above you for no reason so you do what any of us do you study him you open ahrefs you dig through his backlinks his content his structure convinced hes got some secret youre missing and theres nothing there no links no topical authority no clever build just a mid site on a fresh domain outranking your surgically perfect one but yea sure he must just be too good i guess

dont even get me started on pbn services every single one is recycled slop that does absolutely nothing (OMG I SAID IT, now the frogs would come flooding errrr :nerd: they actually work you just have to get your onpage and other seo stuff right errrrrrrr :nerd: sniffle) and the marketplace is a circus you post a request with some oddly specific requirement and within the hour 20 frogs crawl out each one claiming they have that EXACT thing you described nobody has that inventory theyre just reading your request back to you and calling it a service (mostly that marketplace is infested with ai crawlers that spin up an answer instantly) same with any thread on here every comment is just a recycled version of the top comment full of ai

and the negative seo double standard is the part that really exposes everyone

the second you say you wanna do cheap pbn spam some ,301 tricks expired domain spam ,cross domain canonical, the whole forum jumps out their seat oh youre gonna tank youre gonna get deindexed google will smoke you

but flip it around say aha let me point all this at a competitor and suddenly google is a genius again oh no he ignores that he ignores toxic links he ignores spam anchors hes too smart for that

so which is it

and these same seo bros doing everything so surgically perfect terrified of one over optimized anchor sweating over an extra 15 percent exact match keyword anchor thinking google cares thinking google has the processing power and the attention to sit there and notice your tiny linkfarm your minor anchor ratio like bro chill you are not that important the machine is not watching you that close you flatter yourself

and dont even get me started on the actual negative seo demons i hope they rot in hell

you finally get a site ranking you did the work its climbing and here they come flooding you with dmca complaints and they PAY good money for this service btw this is a real business for these subhumans

or they hit your registrar with abuse complaints trying to nuke your domain entirely

like sit and think about what kind of person wakes up and does this for a living what has to go wrong in someone upbringing to make a career out of ruining other peoples work just pure vile creature energy nothing else

so genuinely whats the play here is anyone in this forum actually running on knowledge or are we all just kneeling to some algo idol praying for rankings

tell me im wrong id love to be wrong

this what the hardest post I've ever tried to comprehend on BHW.
can someone TLDR; ?

I think it’s time to go sober, bro. All I see is a mess.

which of the 20 actually did it if this was real knowledge it would be repeatable
To some extent, I agree with this point. Too much SEO theory lacks actual proof. If you’re charging people for a service, you have a basic responsibility to know if it actually works and be transparent about it.

yea i wrote that in a state of frustration :D
here is AI rewrite :

SEO is just astrology for people with an Ahrefs subscription, and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

I've been in this game long enough to say it out loud: nobody knows ANYTHING.

That's it, that's the thread. But let me cook.

Every expert, every guru, every "case study" is just speculation dressed up as knowledge. You stack 20 good things on a site and maybe it ranks, maybe it doesn't — and nobody can tell you which of the 20 actually did it. If this was real knowledge, it would be repeatable. But it's not. You do the exact same thing twice and get two different outcomes. That's not a strategy, that's a slot machine's twin.

And explain this to me: tactics from the dinosaur age, stuff that should be stone cold dead in 2026, still work on some sites — meanwhile the shiny new method everyone swears by flops on its face. If Google is this all-seeing genius everyone keeps crediting, how is fossil black hat still eating good?

You take a blueprint that worked. You SAW it work on a site. You replicate it clean, swap a couple variables, and boom — sandbox. Same recipe, opposite result. In any actual field, that means you don't understand the mechanism. But here we just call it "the algo update" and move on.

And here's the one that breaks my brain the most. You do everything perfect — and I mean actually perfect. Every box checked, every link vetted, clean anchors, clean profile, topical authority built out, proper silo, the whole thing textbook. And you STILL land in sandbox land. Then you look over and there's some random ahh WordPress site running a naked Astra theme, looks like it was built in 10 minutes — no valid links, no authority, nothing, fresh raw domain — and he's just sitting there ranking above you for no reason. So you do what any of us do: you study him. You open Ahrefs, you dig through his backlinks, his content, his structure, convinced he's got some secret you're missing. And there's nothing there. No links, no topical authority, no clever build. Just a mid site on a fresh domain outranking your surgically perfect one. But yeah, sure — he must just be too good, I guess.

Don't even get me started on PBN services. Every single one is recycled slop that does absolutely nothing. (OMG I SAID IT — now the frogs come flooding: "errrr :nerd: they actually work, you just have to get your on-page and other SEO stuff right, errrrrrrr :nerd: sniffle.") And the marketplace is a circus. You post a request with some oddly specific requirement, and within the hour 20 frogs crawl out, each one claiming they have that EXACT thing you described. Nobody has that inventory — they're just reading your request back to you and calling it a service. (Mostly that marketplace is infested with AI crawlers that spin up an answer instantly.) Same with any thread on here: every comment is just a recycled version of the top comment, full of AI.

And the negative SEO double standard is the part that really exposes everyone.

The second you say you wanna do cheap PBN spam, some 301 tricks, expired domain spam, cross-domain canonical — the whole forum jumps out their seat. "Oh, you're gonna tank. You're gonna get deindexed. Google will smoke you."

But flip it around. Say, "Aha, let me point all this at a competitor" — and suddenly Google is a genius again. "Oh no, he ignores that. He ignores toxic links. He ignores spam anchors. He's too smart for that."

So which is it?

And these same SEO bros, doing everything so surgically perfect, terrified of one over-optimized anchor, sweating over an extra 15 percent exact-match keyword anchor, thinking Google cares — thinking Google has the processing power and the attention to sit there and notice your tiny link farm, your minor anchor ratio. Bro, chill. You are not that important. The machine is not watching you that close. You flatter yourself.

And don't even get me started on the actual negative SEO demons — I hope they rot in hell.

You finally get a site ranking, you did the work, it's climbing — and here they come, flooding you with DMCA complaints. And they PAY good money for this service, btw. This is a real business for these subhumans.

Or they hit your registrar with abuse complaints, trying to nuke your domain entirely.

Like, sit and think about what kind of person wakes up and does this for a living. What has to go wrong in someone's upbringing to make a career out of ruining other people's work? Just pure vile creature energy, nothing else.

So genuinely — what's the play here? Is anyone in this forum actually running on knowledge, or are we all just kneeling to some algo idol, praying for rankings?

Tell me I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong.

tldr:
  • SEO is astrology for people with an Ahrefs subscription — nobody actually knows anything.
  • It's not repeatable. Same actions, different outcomes. That's a slot machine, not a strategy.
  • Ancient black hat tactics still work while shiny new methods flop — so much for Google being an all-seeing genius.
  • Copy a proven blueprint exactly → sandbox. In any real field that means you don't understand the mechanism; here we just say "algo update" and move on.
  • The perfect site gets sandboxed while a naked Astra WordPress site on a fresh domain with zero links outranks it for no reason.
  • PBN services are recycled slop, and the marketplace is just frogs (and AI bots) reading your request back to you as a "service."
  • Negative SEO double standard: doing spam to yourself = instant deindex, but pointing it at a competitor = "Google ignores that, he's too smart." So which is it?
  • Stop sweating your anchor ratios. Google isn't watching your tiny link farm that closely. You're not that important.
  • Actual negative SEO demons (paid DMCA floods, registrar abuse complaints to nuke your domain) are vile and should rot in hell.
  • The real question: is anyone here running on knowledge, or are we all just kneeling to an algo idol praying for rankings? Tell me I'm wrong.

SEO is astrology for people with an Ahrefs subscription — nobody actually knows anything.
People who can afford an Ahrefs subscription must be already making some money. So, they know what they are doing. Ahrefs just gives data but not the results. Each individual interprets the data differently. It's not astrology for everyone.

It's not repeatable. Same actions, different outcomes. That's a slot machine, not a strategy.
At least, Technical SEO, is repeatable. If you're talking about shortcuts & black hat strategies, then there are many moving parts, so it's a clockwork. Most people focus on overall workflow but lack the patience to look into the details and micro-manage everything. It's definitely repeatable but the industry keeps evolving with many new features showing up & old features disappearing. So, you need to understand the nuances instead of exactly repeating the process like a robot.

Ancient black hat tactics still work while shiny new methods flop — so much for Google being an all-seeing genius.
Google never bothered about UX. They survive solely because of monopoly. None of their competitors in search industry provide better results. Moreover, they keep making one stupid decision after another as if Google paid their creative teams to mess things up. AI is the only technology that escaped Google's clutches before they realised its potential. Google does everything keeping profits in mind. So, they encourage businesses and sites earning money to flourish while passion projects and personal blogs to die. It's all a part of the larger scheme of things.

Copy a proven blueprint exactly → sandbox. In any real field that means you don't understand the mechanism; here we just say "algo update" and move on.
Sandbox only applies to new sites and those being explicitly black hat. You can't hit sandbox, penalties, errors, etc. without doing something wrong.

The perfect site gets sandboxed while a naked Astra WordPress site on a fresh domain with zero links outranks it for no reason.
There is no such thing as a perfect site. You can only outrank others if you surpass them in authority & trust scores and match user intent.

PBN services are recycled slop, and the marketplace is just frogs (and AI bots) reading your request back to you as a "service."
No one sells results in SEO because it's out of scope for sellers. If you want results, you should hire an agency and have considerable marketing budget.

Negative SEO double standard: doing spam to yourself = instant deindex, but pointing it at a competitor = "Google ignores that, he's too smart." So which is it?
It depends on the footprints. If you spam your own site and keep the list of backlinks in a spreadsheet in Google drive, they'll obviously notice it. If you send spam to your competitor, you're only sending backlinks but not establishing a connection between the site and the backlinks to qualify it as a link farm or paid links.

Stop sweating your anchor ratios. Google isn't watching your tiny link farm that closely. You're not that important.
People maintain anchor ratios as a part of the off-page SEO strategy. It's better to stick to a strategy since the beginning instead of waking up when you get a penalty.

Actual negative SEO demons (paid DMCA floods, registrar abuse complaints to nuke your domain) are vile and should rot in hell.
There will always be such things. We can't do much as they are not in our control.

The real question: is anyone here running on knowledge, or are we all just kneeling to an algo idol praying for rankings? Tell me I'm wrong.
We hardly find any text book examples in SEO. It's the reason everyone goes through latest developments in the industry. Things keep changing, so we better follow along instead of listening to gurus with knowledge & experience.

ABSOLUTE TRUTH !

The majority of people will argue against you and they'll throw around numbers and other 'technical bullshit' to attest to their success. When the truth is the only money they earn is by scamming others to pay for their "expertise."

The reality is:

SEO is a lie
Social Media is a lie
Quality content is a lie
Traffic is a lie

The ONLY thing that counts is SALES.

The only way you'll make sales is with old fashion advertising in print based magazines, flyers, radio, word of mouth, etc.

You'll save money, work less and earn a lot more with a roadside billboard advert than you will wasting your time on SEO and social media.

Proper rant, the sandbox situation especially, doing everything textbook perfect and getting cooked while some naked astra site with zero links just sits there ranking is frustrating and nobody has a real explanation.

I can see the frustration, and I understand it, but I don't agree at all. My total asset traffic depends on SEO and new call AEO lol, and I don't have a clue and never had luck with SMM. It's so much harder to understand paid advertising models like CPC than SEO. I own Ahrefs myself, and now I rarely use it since I use my own ChatGPT with data for SEO APIs. It's cheaper and much easier. However, if something doesn't work for you doesn't mean it doesn't work for others. I mean, SEO isn't a blind thing. We know how internal structure matters, how tiered link wheels connect interlinking sites and tiered work. For example, if you build tier 2 backlinks to broker tier 1, you don't see ranking impact, while established tier 1 to tier 2 clearly shows impact. The rest is like, if you blindly trust Ahrefs suggestions whenever it shows super easy competition and you blindly believe that without a strategy, of course you will get frustrated. SEO is free after all, and most tools are free. You don't need fancy APIs, tools, or pricey things unless you want to scale up. Not every strategy is not work with everyone it has lot of facts..

Smoking kills and its one of causes for heart issues / lung issues but not every smoker impact yet the fact is not blind

Ahrefs shows data, not results. A lot of people, including myself, use Ahrefs and pay hundreds or even thousands a month for their API and agency packages. We wouldn't drop that kind of cash if it was useless. You just have to know how to actually read the data instead of just looking at the DR score. If a naked Astra site is outranking your "perfect" silo, look harder. Ahrefs won't show you everything. That guy is probably blocking crawlers, hiding a massive PBN, or blasting fake CTR traffic. Don't blame the tool just because you haven't found their footprints yet.

I don't sell anything here and offer lol. I don't think if someone knows how to rank/dominate a niche, then why they want to sell the service... I do full-time SEO and I don't have time to offer my skill as a service; instead, I use it for my own projects... It's best to buy all the tools, bells and whistles, and learn here and other forums, YouTube, etc. It's all free; you don't need to spend or buy SEO services.
