False Instagram Restrictions: What’s the Safest Way to Structure 20 Follows, 20 Unfollows & 15 Comments?

My account keeps getting false restrictions for commenting and sending DMs, but every time I request a review Instagram immediately removes the restriction saying, “Our technology made a mistake.”

I only use:
  • One iPhone
  • One Instagram account
  • Home Wi-Fi or 5G
  • No proxies
  • No VPN
  • No automation
  • Everything is 100% manual
My daily activity is relatively low:
  • Around 20 follows
  • Around 20 unfollows
  • Around 15 comments
  • DMs only to people who follow back or reply to my comments
  • No mass messaging
Despite this, Instagram’s AI has become extremely aggressive and I keep getting hit with restrictions.

Currently, I was doing something like this in one session:
  • Follow 5 people
  • Leave 3 comments
  • Like around 5 posts
Then I’d repeat similar sessions throughout the day.

I’m now wondering if mixing different actions together in the same session is what’s triggering Instagram’s spam detection.

Would it be safer to completely separate the actions instead?

For example:
  • First couple of hours: finish all 20 follows
  • Later: finish all 20 unfollows
  • Then later in the day: do all 15 comments
Or is there a better strategy?

I’m not looking for higher limits—I just want the safest and most natural way to complete roughly 20 follows, 20 unfollows, and 15 comments per day without being on my phone all day or repeatedly getting false restrictions.

Has anyone found a workflow that consistently avoids Instagram’s AI flags on manual accounts?

One more question:

Right now I only send DMs to people who either:
  • Follow me back, or
  • Reply to a comment I left on their post (even if they don’t follow me).
Since Instagram has been falsely restricting my account, would it be safer to stop DMing people who only replied to my comment and only DM people who actually follow me back?

Has anyone noticed a difference in account safety between these two approaches?

The safe limit for comments is to leave fewer comments, ideally around one comment per hour, to avoid being reported as spam or having your account disabled. Avoid repeating the same content. Try to write meaningful comments, longer than a few words, and avoid using only emojis.

Feels like the AI is flagging normal behavior more than actual spam lately.

The system seems to rely heavily on patterns now, so even regular activity can get caught sometimes.

Since the restrictions get removed right away, it doesn't seem like you're actually breaking the rules. I don't think doing follows, comments, and likes in the same session is the issue. As for DMs, messaging people who follow you back is probably the safer option.

the daily numbers arent your problem, the pattern is. 20/20/15 executed in tight even intervals reads as a script no matter how low the volume, thats what trips the false restriction. spread it across the day with real gaps, randomise the counts (dont do the same 20 every day), and never batch all follows then all unfollows back to back, thats the most obvious bot signature there is. also account age matters more than the actions: a 2-week account doing 15 comments looks very different from a 6-month one doing the same. warm it slower than you think you need to.

Better context awareness would help automated systems need to understand intent not just detect patterns.

Spend 5-10 minutes scrolling through your feed, randomly liking about 5 accounts you're interested in. Then, unfollow 20 accounts. Make sure to wait at least 30-60 seconds between each unfollow.

If you are getting flagged even with such less actions, Then try the following :

Day 1 - Do Follows and Unfollows, But dont do comments and see how things work.
Day 2 - Seperate all the actions and see how things work.
Day 3 - Go back to the original mix you are doing.

This should give you an idea as to where things are going wrong.
