Is instagram's reshare option actually useful ?

Most people still share posts through DMs or Stories. I don't think the reshare feature makes a big difference for reach, but maybe IG uses it as a small engagement signal.

Initially I thought it helps good content to reach more people but after sometime I don't really see people using this reshare option. Most users still prefer sending posts through DMs or sharing them on stories.

So, I want to know is this feature actually helping people or is it just another feature that most people ignore ?
Has anyone else noticed it making a difference for engagement or reach ?
The process of resharing can prove to be quite efficieent based on the content that is being posted. The contents posted for the process of resharing are normally those that have some relevance to the poster and at the same time provide value to the target audience.

I have not see the reshare option is making a big difference. People still use DMs and stories when they want to share their content with others.

I think most people still use stories or DMs to share the content. I have not seen that the reshare option makes a big difference but is the content is already doing well then this reshare method can helps to increase its reach.

I do not see people using the reshares button much either. Most people would still use the direct messaging method or Stories. Good content should alwaays do well, but I wonder if any people have had any increase in their reach or engagement just bcz of the reshares.

It all depends on what kind of content you are producing and your audience too. While reshares can work for reach when you have content that is shareable or useful, it would not work like a charm. It is usually more effective when people want to send the content via DM or save it.

I think it's useful, but it's definitely not as impactful as DMs or Stories.
The biggest boost comes when someone adds their own thoughts while resharing instead of just hitting the button.
Real conversations still beat passive shares for reach in most cases.

it's a useful feature, but not the feature that most people actively use. bro let's see, users are still much more likely to share posts through dms or stories because those feel more natural and personal for them

I believe that the reshare feature is valuable, although not many people make a habit of using it. People tend to share their content among themselwves in places where they have established connections, such as DM and Stories. If I were growing my account, I would concentrate more on creating shareable content than relying on reshare.

Most users don't use the reshare button. but if they do their followers get notified immediately.

I think that , the feature itself is not the primary consideration, but what makes the user to reshare the post is what counts. In any case, if the content is already meaningful enough, users will utilize direct messages, stories, or resharing anyway. The actual increase in followers will happen through content that deserves to be shared.

Instagram's Reshare feature allows you to repost posts and Reels directly from your account to your feed. Your followers will see the reshared post with the author's name, and the author will also receive a notification when their content is reshared. If your goal is to increase reach or engagement, the priority order should be:
DM Shares > Story Shares > Saves > Comments > Reshare

From what I've seen, the feature is underused, so I wouldn't rely on it for growth compared to saves, shares, and watch time.

I believe the importance of reshare lies in the nature of the content rather than the actual funcitionality. It could be useful in case of evergreen content or community driven content, but generewally the value lies in those posts which you want to send via direct messages or save by urself.

For me, reshare will be effective depending very much on your target audience. It will be around useless for a personal page but very effective for a niche page bcz it will work like a recommenidation engine with the right people sharing. i would measure its effeictiveness based on the number of visits from my profile and quality of followers instead of number of shares.

I think it's a nice feature, but DMs and Stories still seem to drive far more engagement. I haven't seen the reshare option make a noticeable difference on its own yet.
