What matters most when choosing a guest post website?

Hi everyone,

When you're evaluating a website for a guest post, what do you usually check first?

Some people focus on DR or DA, while others care more about organic traffic, niche relevance, or the number of outbound links.

For me, relevant traffic and content quality usually matter more than high metrics alone.

I'd like to hear how others evaluate websites before making a purchase.

Imo, Organic traffic and niche relevance first. High DR doesn't mean much if the site has no real audience.
 
I check actual organic traffic first (ideally keyword-level, not just an estimate, since a lot of sites get traffic from branded or irrelevant terms), then content relevance and consistency- meaning does the site actually publish in-niche content regularly or just accept posts from anywhere. Outbound link count is mostly a red flag check for me; too many unrelated outbound links usually signals a link-selling operation rather than a genuine editorial site.

DR/DA is still useful as a first filter to rule out dead sites, but it's the last thing I weigh, not the first.
 
I don't rely on DR or DA alone anymore. I spend a few minutes reviewing the site's content, checking if it's updated regularly, and making sure it looks like a genuine website.
 
Niche relevancy, traffic, inbound outbound ratio
 
one thing I check that most people skip is traffic trend over last 6 months, not just current traffic number. A site with 15k monthly visitors but declining 40% month over month is actually worse investment than one with 5k visitors but growing steadily. Ahrefs show this clearly in the traffic graph.
also quickly check which country the traffic come from, had sites with decent overall numbers but 80% traffic was from tier 3 countries with zero relevance to my client niche. Those link pass almost no real value regardless how good other metrics look
 
i think people see DA/PA and traffic before approaching blogs.
 
The first thing I check is whether the site actually makes sense for the niche Im working in After that I will look at organic traffic and review a few recent posts I hsve passed on plenty of high DR sites because they felt more like link farms than real websites.
 
Real traffic and a good fit with the niche are the biggest factors for me, also too many outbound links can be a red flag.

i check relevance and organic traffic first, then review the site's recent content and backlink profile.
 
To me traffic and relevance are very important, but the first thing i always check is the indexing of the most recent posts. Sometimes the results look great in Ahrefs, but i never skip a quick "site:url" search.

It is also important to verify whether the site's trffic comes from keywords that actually align with the niche.
 
Niche relevance and consistent organic traffic are usually the best indicators, while high DR alone doesn't always mean the site is worth it.
 
I prioritize niche relevance and real organic traffic over DR every time, a DR80 site with no rankings or unrelated content is usually less valuable than a DR40 site thats trusted in the niche and gets consistent search traffic. I also check outbound links, indexing and whether the site has a history of publishing quality content instead of accepting every guest post.

You are exactly right. Most people actually don't understand that da or dr can be rigged.
 
I usually check organic traffic and niche relevance first. A site can have a high DR, but if it has no real traffic or is unrelated to my niche, I don't find it very useful.

I usually look at niche relevance first. After that, I check whether the site has genuine organic traffic, publishes quality content consistently, and has a natural backlink profile. I also review the outbound links to make sure they aren't linking to every niche or filled with sponsored posts. High DR/DA alone doesn't mean much if the site lacks relevance or trust.

I look at niche relevance first, then organic traffic, indexed pages, and outbound links quality. High DA/DR is nice, but real rankings and a natural backlink profile matter much more.
