What's the biggest waste of time in SEO ?

biggest waste is treating every keyword like it deserves a page. if the intent is thin or there is no business value, you just end up maintaining pages that should have been merged or skipped.

For me, it was obsessing over SEO metrics like DR and DA instead of focusing on whether a backlink was actually relevant and capable of moving rankings. I spent too much time chasing numbers when I should have been prioritizing quality, topical relevance, and building stronger content with better internal linking. Those changes ended up having a much bigger impact.humanize

My biggest time waste was obsessing over SEO metrics like DR and DA instead of focusing on traffic and rankings once i shifted to creating better content and earning relevant links results came much faster

I spent a lot of time adapting the site, links URLs, and tags, using extensios and various techniques, but i later realized that improving the content was what yielded the best results.

I used to keep tweaking titles and meta descriptions over and over.In the end, improving the actual content made a much bigger difference.

The biggest waste of time in SEO is chasing low-quality backlinks and outdated ranking tricks. Focus on creating valuable content, improving user experience, and earning natural authority.

Chasing backlink quantity.

what really made a bigger difference was improving internal linking, fixing thin content, and updating pages based on new search intent.

Hi everyone,
Looking back at your SEO journey, which is the one activity on which you spent too much time but it didn't produce meaningful results ?
Building up other platforms and not building mine...Simple, many in SEO fall for this trap.

Going for those small ranking tricks, and not working on my website as a brand or working on building it's authority.

This is where the real wastage of efforts occurs beyond tactics bcz what happens here is distracting attention away from the pages which do not need searches at all and trying to use tactics and DR instead of checking for intent and traffic potential first.
The other place were time is wasted is over optimization of pages by using metas, silos, scoring, and even minor changes to the page when it does not need to be dn in order for it to answer the query more effectively than other pages.
The solution would be to **discard the unviable URLs from the very start** and put time into viable ones.

honestly, for me, it was too much concentration on backlink building in the early days. I spent a lot of time chasing links and trying different things, but without correcting content and intent first it really didn’t move the needle much. once I started focusing on enhancing sites and user intent, things got a lot more stable.

In my experince chasing shortcuts instead of building useful content is usually the biggest waste of time Long-term results seem to come from consistency and quality rather than quick wins

Spending hours trying to copy every single backlink my competitors had. Most of them were just spam or ignored by Google anyway, so it was a huge waste of time.
