Are we spending too much time creating new content?

In fact, fresh content can contribute to the growth of topic matter; however, all the instant gains that I have seen so far come from the refresh of pages ranking from position 5 to position 20.
Ggl favors the updating of an old page compared to a new URL because it provides an improved intent match if there is already some level of trust established.

I agree. A content refresh better internal linking and matching currant search intent can make a noticeable different .

I prefer refreshing older posts first. Faster and more effective than starting from scratch.
 
One thing that helped us was setting clear rules instead of updating every page on a schedule.


If a page keeps growing in impressions and clicks, we usually leave it alone. But if impressions are increasing while CTR or rankings start dropping, that's our signal to review the page.


We ended up spending less time rewriting content that was already performing well and more time on pages that actually needed attention.

I think it depends on how old the site is. If I only had 20 or 30 articles, I'd probably spend most of my time building out the site before worrying too much about updating older content. Once I have enough content to work with, going back and improving existing pages seems like much better use of time.
 
Most often, I tend to be much more successful in terms of increasing visibility for pages which have some amount of impressions compared to when I constantly make new content.
It should be highlighted that new content creation is important for coverage reasons, but in case of SEO work, I only use it when there is a problem in real .
 
Everything depends on the one question - are you able to get your pages to the AIO. If not - the only thing you will eventually get is views and no clicks.
 
I think it's about balance. Updating existing content often gives faster SEO wins, especially for pages that already have rankings. I usually refresh old articles first, then create new content only when there are clear keyword opportunities.
 
100% agree. Updating existing content is underrated and usually more effective.

New content is good but only if you have a solid strategy behind it.

Updating existing content has given me faster wins. Refreshing outdated pages, improving search intent, and strengthening internal links often delivers better ROI than publishing more articles.

I believe there are many people who don’t know how important it is to update the content they already have. The page, which already has certain ranking and backlinks, can sometimes be optimized and go ahead more quickly than any other page. I still create new content, but 1st of all, I check out my old pages.
