I bought a second-hand iPhone X, factory reset it, and set everything (language, region, device location, etc.) to the US. I also bought a US proxy, verified there were no IP or DNS leaks, and created a new US Apple ID/iCloud account.

When I tried to create a TikTok account, I got the error: "Server is currently unavailable. Try again later." I assumed it was a temporary server issue and continued anyway. However, during account setup, I couldn't add a profile photo or edit my nickname. About a week later, the account was locked.

Thinking it might be the proxy, I factory reset the phone again, bought a different proxy, verified it was working correctly, and repeated the entire process. But as soon as I reached the nickname step during account creation, I got the exact same "Server is currently unavailable" error again.

At this point, I don't think the proxy is the issue. I use the same proxy provider on other devices without any problems, so it seems like something is wrong with this iPhone.

The phone isn't currently jailbroken. It's possible it was jailbroken in the past and later restored, but I don't know if that's something TikTok can detect. Since it's a second-hand device, I also don't know its history, although I wouldn't expect the previous owner to have heavily abused TikTok.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Could the device itself be flagged by TikTok? If so, is there any way to fix it, or should I just sell this phone and buy another one?

This used device may have been previously used by its owner to create multiple infringing accounts or install apps from external sources, leading to it being permanently flagged by TikTok.

Maybe, but I highly doubt that guy would have done something shady. He didn't even know how to reset the phone lol
 
Did you try without proxy at all? Simply share WiFi from another phone for the test.

I doubt it's related to the phone itself because factory reset resets everything. More likely combination of X (old model) + bad proxy.

It’s the email provider that’s flagging the setup. Tik tok loves Gmail.
 
I believe the phone may be used already to create accounts or can be an issue with the browser fingerprints
 
this can happen when a specific device setup is flagged, even if your ip/dns look clean. tiktok can use device signals beyond ip like device identifiers, prior app activity tied to the device, prior jailbreak-related artifacts, or risk scoring from the phone’s history,
 
Before blaming the phone id test it once on a normal mobile hotspot with no proxy and a fresh gmail. if the same error happens again after updating ios/tiktok, the device is probably carrying a bad trust score and id stop wasting time on it.
 
Or you could try logging in with the same Apple ID and proxy on a completely different device. If the creation and editing were done normally, the problem is 100% due to the hardware of your old iPhone X.
 
is your apple id region/country matches what you’re trying to sign up for in tiktok ? that could be one of the issues
 
I solved it. It wasn't my setup, wasn't the proxy, and wasn't the email. It was the device that was an issue. I don't know what was wrong, maybe it was jailbroken or something before, not sure. I got a new phone and everything works well.

This iPhone has a TikTok Hardware Ban, you must flash it via DFU mode for a deep wipe (do not restore any backup) or jailbreak to spoof the Device ID, otherwise just sell it and get another one.
 
i have been into email marketing since 2020 and have learnt a lot, i have developed a tool that can spoof any email (only domain emails no gmail/outlook). i can provide it to our BHW members.
 
I'd try creating an account on a different network without the proxy just to rule that out. If you get the same error, it's probably the device.
 
Try testing that same Apple ID and proxy on a different device—if it runs smoothly, your old iPhone X is definitely flagged. On the flip side, if you switch to a clean mobile hotspot (4G/5G) with a fresh Gmail and still get hit with errors (even after updating iOS/TikTok), that device has a dead trust score. Do yourself a favor and drop it—stop wasting your grind time.
 
Old second-hand iPhones with past jailbreak traces are easily flagged by TikTok. Changing proxy won’t fix the device-level blacklist.
