I rarely see Tumblr mentioned in marketing discussions anymore, but I know it still has active niche communities. Has anyone here used Tumblr recently for driving traffic or backlinks, or is it more useful just for engagement and brand presence now? Curious if it’s still worth the effort in 2026.

For some niches, it can be still useful to find leads and promote your content there to have a secondary traffic source, but in most cases it's not that useful anymore.

tumblrs traffic stats are low compared to other sm platforms
at around 120-140m monthly users

Tumblr still has some active niche communities, so it can work for engagement and building presence. For direct traffic or SEO impact, it feels more limited compared to the other platforms now. Mostly useful as an extra channel rather than a main traffic source.

Tumblr is still useful, but mainly for niche engagement and brand presence. Traffic is possible with consistency, but backlinks have little SEO value now. Treat it as a community platform, not a ranking tool.

It still seems useful for niche communities and brand visibility. Traffic can be inconsistent, but it can work if your content fits the audience. I see it more as a long term engagement platform rather than a primary traffic source right now.

I think Tumblr is still useful for niche communities and brand visibility. Traffic can be hit or miss, but it seems better for engagement and building presence over time. Depends on the niche, but it can still be worth testing.

Tumblr still seems better for niche engagement and brand presence than direct traffic. It can send some visits if the content fits the community, but I'd treat it as a secondary channel rather than a main traffic source.

From what I have noticed, tumblr is more useful for community engagement and brand visibility than as a major traffic source. It still has active niche communities, but the traffic volume is generally much lower compared to platforms like pinterest, reddit, or google. If your niche has an active audience on tumblr, it can still be worth using as an additional channel rather than relying on it as a primary source of traffic.

Tumblr still has pockets of traffic in some niches but I would not use it as a main channel. Most of the value now is from community engagement and getting content seen by niche audiences. I tested it on a few projects and the traffic was small but surprisingly consistent.

I think Tumblr is no longer as active as it used to be, and using it to drive traffic has become much more difficult. The platform still has its niche communities, but attracting significant traffic and engagement is far more challenging than it was in the past.

I think tumblr lost a lot of attention as creators and brands moved to platforms like instagram, tiktok and X. those platform became the main focus fr most people.

If your audience fits Tumblr's communities, it's still worth using as a complementary platform for both engagement and long term traffic.

Compared to other leading platforms, Tumblr may seem less competitive, but it can still generate a decent amount of traffic when used effectively.
