Tips to grow my subreddit

A few months ago, I created a subreddit based on a discussion in the comments on another thread. It gained traction, with 1,000+ members joining. Initially, there was lots of traction and visits. However, now the subreddit is dead, with barely any visitors or posts. How do I kickstart it to life again, any ideas?

Thanks, will do. But was wondering, wouldn't it be odd if its only the mod posting and replying to comments mainly?
 
Post good content. That's the only way.

Use headlines that will gain traffic from Search Engines.

Might need some crosspost action.
 
You need an initial push for sure. Without that, it's not easy to grow. Build some accounts, keep posting trending topics, and have discussions. That's the way to go!

I think the hardest part is getting people to post again. I would probably start by posting something myself every few days and asking simple questions that are easy to reply to.If people see the subreddit is active again, they are more likely to join the conversation instead of just leaving.

Configure the descriptions and sidebars and so on with good keyword ratio. The internal recommendations system will do the magic for you. Also, comment on competitor subs but never mention your own. They'll click your profile and find your sub. Make sure your personal profile also has links to the sub.

I can understand your situation. This generally happens when the initial curiosity fades. As someone said above, post good content that's niche specific. Brainstorm a few ideas and use AI to write a short post that shares neat tricks in your niche - it needs to be a unique take or something original. Use AI and then edit/rephrase it in your own words to avoid it sounding canned.

Take a few insider secrets you know and make a short post, share that and then post it and ask for feedback and you'll see engagement. Reply to comments as quickly as they come in (<1 hour response) to spur engagement. Do a few posts sharing real tips/secrets that haven't been posted and you'll start to build a community.
 
Cross post the living !@#$ out of your subreddit in niche relevant subreddits.
 
If i will be in your shoes i will look at other subreddits see what content they post and try to coppy and make it better and offcourse be consistent with posting
 
i have seen this happen with a lot of new subreddits. Getting first 1k members is actually the easy part but keeping people active is where the real work starts. i would say focus on building a small group of regular contributors and adding valuable content helps to grow your subreddit.
 
Just start posting in it again. A few good posts every week and getting a couple of people to join the discussion can slowly bring it back. Dead subs usually just need activity.
