For a WordPress + WooCommerce eCommerce website, many category or product's keywords are currently ranking at the bottom of page 1 or on page 2 in Google search results.

If I fix technical SEO issues (such as adding noindex to filtered URLs like color, size, and model variations, and pagination pages), which was not previously modify).

improve internal linking between category pages and product pages (which was not previously optimized), and also build high-quality backlinks, will this effectively improve keyword rankings?

If yes, how long does it usually take to see noticeable ranking improvements?

good news is the fixes you listed are the right ones — i'd just reorder them by leverage, because "bottom of page 1 / page 2" usually isn't a backlink problem. at that position google already thinks you're relevant enough to rank, it's just not preferring you yet. so the fastest wins are almost always on-site, not more links.

internal linking is the big one and probably why you're stuck. woo category/product pages that are only reachable through faceted nav or deep pagination barely get any internal authority. link your money categories straight from the homepage/main nav, add contextual links from blog posts and from related products, and make sure the important products aren't buried 4 clicks deep. this alone moves page-2 → page-1 a lot of the time with zero new backlinks, because you're just routing the authority you already have to the right URLs.

on the technical: noindexing the color/size/filter combos is correct (thin, near-duplicate) — pair it with a canonical to the clean category. but be careful NOT to noindex your normal pagination (page 2, 3…). if you noindex those you can orphan the products sitting deep in the catalog — you want pagination crawlable/indexable, just the junk filter params killed.

also check the boring one: at bottom-of-page-1 the pages above you almost always have more actual relevance — a real category intro, specs, a title/H1 that matches the exact query. a bare product grid loses to that.

backlinks do help, but they're the slow, expensive lever — do the free on-site stuff first.

timeline: technical + internal changes tend to show within ~2–6 weeks once google recrawls (request indexing on the key URLs to speed it up); links take longer, more like 1–3 months to season. big catalog = recrawling all those filter URLs can be slow, so don't panic if it's gradual rather than overnight.

Yes, those changes can make a real difference, especially if your keywords are already ranking near the top of the search results. Improving technical SEO, strengthening internal linking, and building high quality backlinks all help Google better understand and trust your site. In many cases, you can see positive ranking changes within 4 to 12 weeks, though highly competitive keywords may take more time.

Yeah, those improvements can definitely help, especially if ur keywords are already close to page 1. There is no set time frame but if all goes well you may begin to see movement in a few weeks to a couple of months. The key is consistency.
