Ask me Anything About making money on Etsy (Etsy AMA)

Hi, I have a question about promoting the listings. Like is there any automated ways to promote listings and gain outside traffic? I have heard some people use bots for it but don't know how to use it. Also, can it get me banned? Thanks.

I've tried dropshipping products on Etsy and it did not end that well as every single buyer requested tracking info when all of my stuff was being shipped from China lol. Made like $200 tho, so not terrible tbh

If I'm not mistaken you have a newer thread about Etsy but I just couldn't find it again. I've found a niche I want to go into, however, amongst all competition there's a seller that completely overshadows the rest with their sales number being vastly greater and every other basic aspect in order. How to go about trying to take away a piece of their pie? My way of differentiating is through visual means, i.e. how products look. I also think can create a few products that they are not selling but number of said products is limited plus they likely have most of the products in the niche covered. So how would you go about in tackling competition like that as a starting store?

That's funny as I had a shop with 82,500 5 star reviews and still have one with over 68,000 that does not show up in the top 100, how is your 280 review shop showing up in the top 100? Do you mean in a very specific niche or in your category? Or do you mean every shop on etsy, as both mean very different things.

You just answered your own question, as you say you didn't do it when uploading so now if you want to do it you will have to open each listing individually and insert any variations you want included. There is no way around that sadly. The bulk importer is famous for messing stuff up like this and in most cases one would have to go in anyway to make sure everything is in its right place and it carried all the info across. My advice would be to open up the listings and edit them by hand, 500 should not take you more than a day.

Most of these apps and tools to bulk upload dont work on Etsy and eBay because each section or type of products has a different page and a whole bunch of different options and variation so you are shit out of luck as far

Where can I buy legit Etsy reviews?

Its not something I would recommend but I'm sure you can find sellers here on the marketplace that offer Etsy reviews.

I am currently using ehunt as a research tool, not sure of your thoughts on it?

I am looking at the spell niche and seeing that a decent number of shops are constantly deleting their top performing listings and creating very similar ones (pretty much identical), with the same keywords and pictures. Is this a tactic for ranking or to prevent negative reviews?

Spell Niche, what is that?

Like spell casting and tarot card readings.

There are many predatory scammers on Etsy who sell "magical spells" to emotionally and mentally vulnerable people and seem to make quite a profit with it. It's not something I condone or would advise on as Metaphysical services, such as reiki and spell casting, are prohibited on Etsy.

Hi guys,

I am wondering if you could recommend any bulk listing tool. I've made some research but none of the tools I found (getvela, v45.org, mydesign.io) have a good reputation or feels reliable. Any advice on that would be highly appreciated.
