Is anyone getting good reach but less followers on Instagram ?

Some of my reels are getting decent reach and views but the number of new followers coming from the reach is very lower. A video performs well, get likes and shares but no new followers.

Previously, a reel with similar performance would result in the increase of new followers.

Has anyone else noticed this recently ? What do you think causing it ?

Sure this is quite common these days the reach does not convert the way it used to. Instagram has been trying to make its reels more popular with users who do not belong to its target audience and hence, you have the likes/views but by people who are not the ideal profile followers. Secondly, follow intent is much lower unless your content brands you in those initial 2 3 seconds
 
viral reach does not always equal growth. On Instagram, engagement like saves and profile visits matter more for followers.
 
Occasionally, a well-written post can attract a huge amount of engagement and shares, even if the account has very few followers.
 
True that reels are performing well!

I am managing a handful of accounts to promote the e-com store of one of my clients. All we do is post reels, and they're performing well despite having only a few followers. Trending topics, tags, and keywords also matter.

Don't worry about that, because nowadays with the new IG algos even having followers doesn't mean much, if the reels generally don't perform well, it won't be shown to the people who are following you, but if it does, it'll get shown to everyone, including the ones who are not following you. So, it doesn't matter either way. Just focus on reels getting more reach, and try converting from reels to DMs, via that current on the hype method, comment to DM thing.

I’ve noticed the same thing. My guess is Instagram is pushing content to a broader audience that’s more likely to watch than follow. Reach and views are still there, but converting viewers into followers seems harder than it was a few months ago.
 
Yeah, it’s becoming quite common because IG is expanding the use of Reels to non targeted users; hence, you will have more likes/views but no “following intentions.” In case your content does not explicitly state who you are and what you do, people will only view your content and leav
 
Reach and engagement are decent but the follower growth isn't matching the numbers like it used to. I've noticed the same lately on a few accounts I'm managing.
 
Yes, I have noticed this too. Some reels get good views and likes, but fewer people follow. I think users watch more content without following, and Instagram behavior keeps changing.

Don't worry too much, my friend. I think it's still a very good sign that your upcoming work will go much more smoothly. Don't be overly concerned about this.
 
I've noticed that too. Some Reels get good views, but hardly any new followers. I think people enjoy the video, but don't have a reason to follow for more.
 
Instagram now prioritizes recommending content rather than accounts; when you see a good video, you simply keep scrolling to the next one.
 
Audience distribution bias: The algorithm may push your video to a wider-than-normal group of viewers, creating artificial reach without actually engaging those interested in your core topic.
 
What kind of account is it? Influencer, business, niche? Some issues I've seen is when going to the account the content looks inconsistent. For example the models does not sell a similar vibe or face (if AI). When it's business same happens if you provide interesting reels, but the consistency on topic or quality is all over the place.
 
a view doesnt follow you, a profile visit does. reach measures the reel, the follow happens when the reel makes them tap your name and the grid gives a reason to stay. if reach is up but follows are flat its usually one of two: the reel is entertaining but complete in itself so theres no reason to want the next one, or they do tap through and the profile doesnt promise more of the same. check your profile-visit-to-follow rate in insights, is the drop happening at the visit or after it?

Not all reach means follow growth
You cannot expect people to follow you if there’s nothing to make them stay for more. Make sure to concentrate on developing your niche, your hooks, and an instant profile of value, because these things have much more weight in follow conversion than just reach itself.
 
Your profile page might not match the specific topic of the viral video that brought in the massive reach. If a viewer clicks your name and sees random mixed content instead of more videos just like the first one, they leave.

Yes, this is something that I have observed too. It is not necessary that reach converts to followers because most of the people view the reels and do not check out the profile anymore. Mostly the thing that makes the difference is having a theme in the profile and giving reasons to follow.
