You have to understand, that the Google ranking itself as of now is more or less still the same as 15 years ago in its main points. Links are one of the most important parts of every SEO strategy.

Funny how some folks still chase after every shiny link like a magpie, thinking more is always better. In my own site’s journey, a handful of solid backlinks did way more heavy lifting than dozens of random ones. I always focus on stuff that people actually want to read or share - the backlinks kind of take care of themselves when the content’s not just phoning it in.

Think of backlinks from authoritative websites as getting a recommendation from the popular kid in school. When trusted sites link to your content search engines see it as a vote of confidence and are more likely to rank your site higher the more quality recommendations you get the more visibility and traffic your website can earn without having to beg for attention
