Hi everyone,

I want to know, what SEO strategy has surprised you with good results recently ?

Writing optimized and highly niche-relevant content for your business or service around your target KWs consistently... That shit still works like magic.

It's not even about bulking content onto your site but publishing a few quality pieces that are well optimized with internal linking and all that stuff
 
In truth, it has actually been workin better for me to refresh old articles with new statistics, image and internal links than to create brand-new content recently. It seems as though Google is valuing maintenance over new content at this point
 
honestly internal linking and updating old content has been working batter than expected. just improving structure and making related pages connect properly often gives faster ranking gains than publishing new posts.
 
For me strong internal linking and updating old content have worked better than expected Recently

I have seen bigger gains from improving existing pages and building topical authority than from adding more backlinks
 
Instead of chasing individual keywords, focusing on covering an entire topic in depth has led to faster indexing, better rankings and more stable traffic for me right now, this whole thing about building topical authority through content clusters and strong internal linking is working better than expected. Combined with a few highly relevant backlinks the results have been surprisingly strong in 2026.
 
For me, internal linking is working well right now. I seen that pages are ranking better just by adding relevant links from other pages on my site without building any new backlink.

another positive surprise is the performance of updates to existing pages over creation of new pages for rankings.

updating existing pages with a litle tweak on the content and adding few internal links will make a diference.
 
Parasite got hit especially in Swedish market now and regular SEO sites are booming again. Igaming

Half the time I fix rankings by deleting pages, merging content, and removing internal link spam… not adding new “strategies.” :D

Feels like Google prefers tidy sites over ambitious ones right now.

quoting this cuz it's honestly the most accurate take in the whole thread rn. "doing less" is the actual cheat code.
while everyone else is trying to brute force more internal links or pump out more content, i took this "tidy site" concept to the absolute extreme n just completely nuked the heavy server footprint altogether.
i dropped standard wordpress n bloated cms frameworks entirely. built a setup recently using pure vanilla JS with a custom DOM engine, hosted straight on edge networks so the operational cost is literally $0/month.
what's crazy is that it proves exactly what u said about google preferring tidy sites. cuz the build hits a verified 100/100 mobile lighthouse score with flat 0ms total blocking time, google's algo n AI overview scrapers just trust it instantly. it completely bypassed that awful 3-month sandbox lag just because there is zero technical debt for the bots to crawl through.
i'm actually tracking the live data n traffic on a journey thread rn to see how marketplace buyers value pure technical performance on an asset flip before my exams start up. but yeah... stripping the code down n having a "tidy" architecture > adding more seo spam tbh.

It's been like so for a long time. Webmasters own blame, they gave google all the tools to destroy SEO.
 
Index bloat cleanup surprised me the most lately. Not sexy at all, but noindexing useless tags, thin archive pages, duplicate city pages that never pulled clicks, then tightening canonicals gave a few sites a nice bump without touching links. Seems like once Google stops wasting crawl on garbage, the decent pages get treated better. Small sample tho, wouldnt call it magic.
 
Programmatic SEO tailored to long-tail local keywords is hitting hard. Scraping high-intent underserved queries and scaling optimized landing pages works surprisingly fast. Also, aged domains with clean backlink profiles still bypass the initial sandbox friction remarkably well. :cool:
 
Combine OG methods with new hotness methods. Use AI to help determine the hottest current queries for your chosen niche (to clarify visitor intent), and select the closest long tail keywords associated with those queries (to measure the exact search volume and ranking difficulty of the terms). Together the search terms used gives the SEO project more total control over the effort to rank.

Create a pillar or anchor article for each major search term, internally link them to each other, then create 10-20 articles using minor kws (with easy difficulty) to cover sub queries under each main kw, that link to the major search term. This will increase overall topical authority of the site.
 
SEO is performing better than expected when you focus on brand visibility, not just google ranking, organic traffic is still king in terms of volume, but the surprising thing is that visitors arriving from AI assistants convert at much higher rates, being the brand recommended by AI can be more valuable than being number one in traditional searches.

What's performing exceptionally well is quotable content and mentions off site, this isn't just about backlinks, but also about appearing in industry publications, podcasts, forums like reddit, and reviews, when your brand appears in these spaces, AI systems recognize it as an authority and start citing it in their responses, regardless of whether your site has the most links.

Another key shift is optimization for the actual moment of purchase, generic informational content no longer generates clicks because google answers those questions directly, but comparison pages, case studies, and content that answers specific questions are converting better than ever because AI can't replace that in depth analysis, the SEO that is growing today is the one that builds a trustworthy and visible brand throughout the entire digital ecosystem.

they have unique first-hand data, so users do not have to go back to the search results. this tells google that people are really engaging, and helps rankings. rehashed content cases low engagement, which leads to less visibility and a weaker impact of backlinks.
 
Updating old content. It has provided a huge benefit for me in terms of traffic.
