hey,
Just wanted to ask something simple.
are new blogs still working for you?
i am trying a few new sites but results feel slower than before. some posts rank but some do not move at all.
what are you doing something different these days with new blogs?

Still working, but slower on fresh domains.
Indexing and internal linking matter more now.
I’m seeing better results with consistent posting rather than expecting quick rankings.
 
Fresh domains are painful right now @RileyMorgan. i started a couple new projects late last year and they took forever to get indexed, let alone rank. @SpotlightRank is right about consistency but honestly you need some early authority now. i've been using expired domains with clean history to skip the sandbox, otherwise you are waiting 6+ months just to see if google even likes your niche. also make sure you are using indexers or the API because the default crawl rate on new sites is pretty bad lately...
 
new blogs still work but it definitely not as easy as before. the biggest issue these days google give penalties. so it's way better to diversify your traffic sources
 
I just started a new blog on my old website with authority in the same niche. I got good results.

You need to build some authority in the niche first to make sure that your blogs are recognized as helpful by google.

New blogs are still doing well, but the environment is significantly tougher now than it was a few years ago. It's no longer a "write as much as you can" game.
 
Brace up, sooner or later, it may take a year for Google to trust a new domain.

Yes, they work, but the days of throwing up a WordPress site, hitting publish on 50 generic articles, and getting traffic in a month are completely dead.

It is hard now. Really hard.

If you start a fresh domain today, you are starting with zero trust. Pumping out the same commodity content that everyone else is publishing will just get your pages stuck in the "Crawled - currently not indexed" pile. Google does not need another generic answer to a basic question.

To make a new blog work right now, you need genuine authority signals. That means publishing non commodity content and doing actual, manual link building. You have to treat the site like a real business from day one, not a quick flip.

Expect to put in 6 to 12 months of grinding before you see any meaningful traction. If you do not have the patience or budget for that, do not bother starting.

Informational blogs are almost dead, Google 1st page now full of AI overviews, flops, no traffic to small blogs.
 
New blogs are still working in 2026, but the biggest wins come from publishing genuinely helpful content, targeting low competition keywords, building topical authority, and staying consistent, Google seems to reward quality and expertise more than volume now.

Yes, new blogs can still work, but I think they generally take more time and consistency than they did a few years ago. Search engines seem to reward websites that demonstrate expertise and publish genuinely helpful content rather than just targeting keywords.
I've found that focusing on topical authority, covering a niche in depth, and building strong internal links gives better long-term results than publishing random articles. It's also important to update older posts and make sure every page satisfies search intent.
Some articles will rank quickly, while others may take months to gain traction. Instead of judging a new site by a few posts, I prefer to stay consistent and look at progress over a longer period. Patience and quality still make a big difference.
 
New blogs can still work, but I think expectations need to be adjusted. It often takes longer to build trust and traction now than it did a few years ago.

yes, still working for me, I focus on building backlinks slowly and naturally, rather than trying to rank everything immediately. some posts take months, but consistent backlinks help new blogs to grow faster
 
yeah new blogs still work but gotta be patient, content quality and niche r huge now, some posts fly, some stay stuck, i usually mix long posts + trendy stuff + good backlinks, results slower than before but still doable.

Instead of publishing random articles, I build content around a specific topic and improve internal linking. Some posts take months to rank, so patience is more important than ever.
 
if you are talking to websites based on blogs only then you should rethink it. Try to cover service websites with related blogs. That helps in overall growth and brand visibility.
 
New blogs can definitely work better but it takes time may be few years, I would suggest focus less on publications lot of random articles and more on topical clusters, content dept and more.
 
Yes, new blogs are still working for me, but results are definitely slower than a few years ago. I focus on building topical clusters and letting the site age naturally before going after harder keywords.
