I just lost 2 of my biggest subreddits due to being unmoderated. I was wondering why my traffic dropped so much and this was the culprit. No email no notifications just gone. Worst part is Reddit doesn't even let them be remodded again.

If you are like me with 10+ subreddits get another mod to help or make sure you're modding them all in a weekly bi-weekly basis if you wish to keep them. I was focused on growing new subs that I forgot about the big ones and paid the price. Absolutely crazy. Stay active folks..

bro can u give some advice how to grow a subreddit from scratch

Bonus: The subs were NSFW. I've now realized reddit has been recently been banning unmoderated NSFW subreddits instantly but leaving unmoderated SWF subreddits to be rescued/untouched.

Bro, after getting burned once, I started checking mod logs, queue activity and automod actions because traffic drops are sometimes just the symptom, not the disease

That's rough. A lot of people don't realize Reddit can take over inactive subreddits.
Good reminder to check in regularly, especially if you're running multiple subs.

So sorry for you. Were you monetizing those sub reddits? And if you were could you tell us how were you making?

That's unfortunate. Unlike other platforms, reddit owns your subs. They take action whenever they want. Even if there is some issue, you need to contact mods instead of resolving it yourself like other platforms. It's better to be safe than sorry.

That's really unfourtunate to hear ! Anyway again you can start from scratch

To counter this, i have a main account with my personal ip that i always have as second mod for every subreddit that i own. It happened only once that my main account got banned. But i got it back after few requests to support staff.

yeah NSFW subs get treated way harsher lately, seen the same thing. Even a tiny bit of mod activity helps, like approving/removing a few posts, clearing queue, updating automod once in a while. I keep a boring spreadsheet now with last mod action date for each sub because reddit gives zero warning when they decide it’s “abandoned”. Crossposting works for growth, but for keeping them alive you gotta make the sub look actively managed, not just active with users.

i'm sorry to hear that. Next time, be careful because on reddit this is no joke..

Last time they banned my subs because of link in the sticky post and the welcome message. Wonder how these days we can promote on our own nsfw. Only banner/text link in the sidebar?

Yeah, this sucks. Happened to me more than once. BS.
