I think personal branding has become much more valuable than it was a few years ago, especially for service-based businesses and consultants.
Many business owners prefer building an audience on LinkedIn and social media because it's often faster and less expensive than competing against established websites in Google search results. A strong personal brand can generate leads, referrals, and trust without requiring significant investment in SEO.
In my view, the best strategy is to combine both. Use personal branding and social media to build authority, trust, and immediate visibility, while using SEO to create a long-term asset that generates consistent organic traffic.
For local businesses, personal branding can be extremely effective. But even for global businesses, a strong personal brand combined with traditional SEO is often more powerful than relying on either channel alone.
