Does Cold Email Not Work Anymore?

Cold email still works but volume spam got filtered harder so low quality campaigns just never reach inbox anymore

Check your smtp score, letter (email body)

I used to get spammed with cold emails. But for a over a few months have not gottent emails from strangers. Has cold emailing as marketing tactic stopped working
Cold email still works, but not the old spray-and-pray method.
Personalization, relevance, and targeting the right prospects matter more than ever now.

Generic outreach gets ignored, but well-crafted emails still bring solid results.
What’s been working for you lately?

Any of you here still doing cold emails and know how to setup the whole system up properly?

used to do cold emails using aweber, they died when Ai was intergrated into email. Ratings basically tanked to zero and I gave up

Cold emailing is still working, but it's not as effective as it used to be. Email providers have become much stricter with spam filters, and many businesses are using better email protection tools now.
I think people are still sending cold emails, but a lot of them never reach the inbox anymore. Quality targeting and personalization matter much more today than sending large volumes of emails.

Cold email is not ineffective, It is how effectively we are making use of it. Here are what I focus before hitting send:
  • Personalization Is More Important Than a generic mail
  • Strong Subject Lines Matter to get better CTR
  • Quality Beats Quantity
  • Value Must Come First
  • Follow-Ups Increase Success Rates
  • Mobile-Friendly Emails Perform Better

I've spent 8 years with a company doing exactly this.

It's not an easy task though, especially after December 2021 (major Google update).

It can be done, but requires time, some investment, and nuance.

It's not that it stopped working, more like everyone's gotten way better at filtering. your inbox is basically a highly optimized cache now, and anything not hitting the right keywords or sender reputation just gets dropped. companies are probably just using smarter tools to manage their outreach, so the spammy stuff you used to get is just never reaching your main inbox. it's all about hitting the right cache layer these days.

Cold emailing isn’t going anywhere, but it’s definite changing. Email providers are also getting much better at filtering spam, and marketers are move away from mass blast to highly personalised outreach. If you’re experiencing fewer emails in your spam folder, it’s probably a sign that deliverability standards and audience targeting have become more sophisticated.

Nevertheless, cold emailing remains effective, but things have changed in recent times. Due to improvement in spam filtering technology and email policie, along with personalizing cold emailing campaigns, the sending of cold emails en mass by marketer has been minimized.

I recently emailed a number of old customers I hadn't spoken to in years and was surprised by how many replied... it is not quite cold email, as they knew and recognized me from before... But still, they could have ignored me and send my email to thrash.
So, in my opinion, only bad cold email is dead.
The generic "Dear Sir, I have an offer for you" emails go straight to spam. A real email sent to the right person with a genuine reason for contacting them still can work, especially if you do your research about the person to whom you are sending and also provide real value in the email. A single relevant email can outperform a thousand generic ones.

 receiving fewer sales emails doesn't necessarily mean email marketing is dead. in fact, email remains one of the most widely used channels in B2B sales, link building, PR, and recruitment. ;)

Honestly its not the inboxes dying, its your sender rep aging out. If you stop warming domains and let them sit, deliverability tanks fast and you just disappear from people radar. @WPAutoGuy is right tho, the spray and pray stuff was always borderline... what still lands for me is small batches off properly warmed boxes, like 20-30 a day per inbox max, with actual research in the first line.

The other thing nobody mentioned, Google and MS basically punish you now if your reply rate is garbage. So if your content is weak you dont just get spam foldered, the whole domain reputation craters. Seen it happen to a couple people who thought volume would fix it. It didnt.

What about selling physical products with B2B cold email approach? Is there any difference?

I don't think cold emailing has stopped working. If anything there are probably more cold emails being sent than ever. A lot of email providers have just become much better at filtering them before they reach your inbox. I've noticed the same thing myself. Most of the low quality outreach seems to end up in spam or promotions now. The people still getting results from cold email are usually sending highly targeted and personalized messages rather than blasting thousands of generic emails.
