I see many people recommending LinkedIn for lead generation but most strategies seem to depend on premium tools has anymore successfully generated consistent clients using only a free LinkedIn account and if so what approach worked best?

A free LinkedIn account can work if you are consistent. I spent most of my time commenting on industry posts and connecting with people who engaged with them.

I usually post educational/informational in my niche and because I have authority the clients find me themselves.

Yeah dude just build real relationships, don't spam. takes longer but converts better than any paid tool anyway.
