Content first, then backlinks is the safer approach because Google can better understand your site before authority signals come in.

Build a solid base of content first, then start to get links over time as your site grows. A slow and steady natural approach is often better than trying to build links too quickly at the outset.

First get atleast 5-10 pieces of content out. Don't go too broad make sure these content pieces share the same semantic entity cluster. Once Google indexes them and your pages start to show up on Google for some kws you can start then.
Link quality and velocity will decide if your site's gonna grow slow, fast or get tanked. If your competitors don't have great links then you can get ahead of them quickly with fewer decent quality links. Look at the competition and try to mimic their strategy.
If you start building links then my only advice will be don't stop building links once you achieve your goal. You stop only when the website doesn't mean anything to you. Hell even then you can turn your website into a link farm and sell links

Start building backlinks once you have some quality content indexed. Prioritize content first, then gradually add relevant, natural links to avoid looking spammy.

Everyone's in a tizzy about llms.txt and formatting, but if your site's indexing budget is wasted, AI won't even sniff your content. Traditional technical SEO is still the bottleneck here – if Googlebot isn’t crawling it on a daily basis, the AI models aren’t fetching it for real-time queries anyway.

Before heavy backlink building, make sure you have at least 5–15 solid posts that actually provide value. No one links to empty or thin sites.

i think u should wait till u got few good posts, then start getting backlinks, coz starting too early dont help much.

Jumping the gun on backlinks felt tempting to me too, but search bots are pretty nosy these days. I stick to getting at least a dozen solid articles up first, then I pace myself with backlinks and mix the sources so things stay looking natural. Keeping tabs on competitor moves with free tools gave me a leg up on what not to overdo this year.
