My Instagram account is connected to my main account. How can I remove it and make it separate without losing access? Has anyone done this before?

You can unlink accounts from accounts center. instagram moved most linked settings there now.

You just need to go to Settings > Accounts Center > Accounts, and remove the specific profile; just make sure to add a standalone email/password to that account first so you don't lose access.

Yes, you can remove it from Accounts Center and make it separate. Just make sure the account has its own email and phone number first so you don't lose access.

If it’s linked through Meta’s Accounts Center, check there first and review what’s connected before making any changes.

just go to settings u will see there option
settings-account center

I have not done it myself, but I believe it's possible. Before removing the account, I make sure it has its own email address and phone number linked to it so you don't lose access.

just go to settings then accounts center and remove the other accout from there, it wont delete anything u just need to login with its own password after that

You can unliknk your Instagram account straight from your account center. Just go to settings then account center then accounts and unlink it.

Try this: go to settings - accounts center - accounts and profiles, select your Insta account and remove it from the connected list

Check the Accounts Center settings in Facebook or Instagram. After that, remove the account connection through Accounts Center.

To unlink Instagram from a connected account (usually Facebook or Meta Business), go to Instagram Settings → Account Center → tap your connected account → Remove. This severs the connection without deleting either account.
If you're talking about unlinking from Meta Business Suite specifically: go to business.facebook.com → Settings → Accounts → Instagram Accounts → find the account → Remove. Note that if the Instagram was added as an ad account asset, you may need to remove it from the ad account first before removing it from Business Manager.
One thing to watch: unlinking doesn't remove cross-posting settings or permissions granted to third-party apps. After unlinking, check Settings → Apps and Websites on Instagram to revoke any connected app permissions that may still reference the old connection.
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

If it's linked through Accounts Center, you can usually remove it without losing the account itself

Yes, it’s common.

To separate them safely:

  • Go to Settings → Accounts Center → Accounts
  • Select the account
  • Tap Remove from Accounts Center

Your Instagram won’t lose followers or posts, just the connection features.

Make sure each account has its own email/phone + password to avoid losing access.
