Hi everyone,

I have been trying to grow on Pinterest and I am a bit confused about what matters more right now.

Some people say keyword optimization is the main factor, while others focus heavily on pin design and visuals.

In my case, sometimes simple pins perform better than well-designed ones, which makes it even more confusing.

So I wanted to ask:
  • Is Pinterest more SEO-based or design-based now?
  • What has made the biggest difference for your growth?
  • Do you prioritize keywords first or visuals?
I would love to hear your experiences.

From what I have seen, both matter, but keywords help with discovery first. Then designs seems to affect clicks and engagement. Simple pins doing well makes sense, clean visuals often perform better.

Pinterest feels more like a search engine now, so keywords seem to matter quite a bit. Good visuals help too, but without the right keywords the pins don’t get much reach.

I think Pinterest is mix of both now. Keywords help with discovery, but design still affects click and engagement. Personally, I focus on clear visuals first, then optimize title and descriptions. Simple pins sometimes perform better for me too.

Just like TikTok, there's no set formula for success. But you definitely need to combine quality content and keywords.

I’ve seen the same thing. Simple pins doing better usually means the SEO is stronger there.
I’d focus on keywords first, then test designs later.

Pinterest is still keyword driven at the core. Design just helps you win the click. I’ve had ugly pins rank just because the keyword targeting was right.

IMO it's a balance. Keywords get you discovered, visuals get the click. I usually lock in solid keyword targets first, then tune the pin design to match them. Sometimes simple pins outperforms fancy ones when the keyword alignment is tight.

1) yes pinterest is more SEO based right now.
2)for me using correct hashtags and descriptions have made a difference in driving traffic to my pins
3)both are equally important.

keywords get your pins discovered while design drives clicks, so prioritizing both together delivers the best results.

Both matter Keywords help Pinterest understand and rank the pinbut design gets the clickA beautiful pin with bad keywords may not get discovered and a keywordoptimized ugly pin may not get clicks You need both

Based on my experience, Pinterest still places a strong emphasis on keywords to improve content visibility.

2026, keywords drive discovery while design drives clicks and saves, so the best growth comes from combining strong SEO optimization with simple, clear, and eye catching visuals.
