Lifespan of a successful blog on average

What do you guys think about the average lifespan of a succesful blog ? I mean how many years can a blog keep earning good on average . I mean most of the good blogs I used to follow which were very popular at one point of time are extinct now.
A successful blog usually lasts at least 5 years. If the owner maintains strong consistency, its lifespan can extend to 8–10 years.

I’ve noticed my old sites only kept rolling as long as I treated them like living things instead of time capsules. The moment I stopped tweaking stuff or trying new content angles, they started collecting dust fast. What helped me most was checking in on what readers actually responded to and pruning dead sections so the whole thing didn’t feel stuck in the past.

depends on niche some blogs last 2 to 3 years after google updates others stay alive 7 to 10 years if content keeps getting updated and links still coming in most old sites you saw gone just stopped updating and lost rankings.

I’ve found that mixing up formats every year or so really gives older blogs a much-needed shot in the arm. Podcasts, short videos, interactive polls - even simple timeline posts about industry changes keep readers sticking around. Keeping up with Google’s 2026 SEO quirks is a pain, but things like optimizing page speed and updating old links still seem to move the profitability needle the most for me.

Personally i believe there is no expiration date for a blog. the thing is that some blogs make money for years since they devellop over time but some of them fail bcz they use the same old tactics without developing further. the key thing is that a long lastting blog constantly updates its content nd adapts to new things rather than thinks that what used to work will work forever.

There are no definite lifespan. Some blogs disappears after 2 to 3 years as they are not updated anymore. On the contrary, some earn money for 10 years since they develop along with the changing trend.
In my opinion, the major problem with blogging is that people treat it as a one off activity.

many blogs tend to work fine for about 3 to 7 years or so and gradually begin to lose their effectiveness.the ones which survive adapt themselves accordingly and keep updating their content.but truth be told mny of them lose relevance and people become disinterested in them.

a good blog for earning money can survive for many years but it all depends on the niche and maintenance. 2 to 4 years can be considered as a good time for earning money from a blog.however when it goes beyond 6 to 7 years then it is observed that some blogs begin to lose their momentum.

a lot of blog have strong run for around three seven years before things start slowing down.the ones that last much longer usually keep updating and changing with the market.but many owners just get bored stop working on it move onto something else.

There's no fixed lifespan, blogs survive when owners keep adapting, updating, and diversifying.

i don't think there's a fixed lifespan for a successful blog Some can stay profitable for 5–10+ years if they keep updating content adapting to search changes and building a loyal audience the blogs that disappear often stop evolving
