I’ve bounced between platforms over the years, and the thing that keeps me sane is choosing based on how much tinkering I feel like doing. Some days I want full control, other days I just want to write and hit publish. If you already know your tolerance for plugins, updates, and theme tweaks, the choice gets a lot clearer. Otherwise it’s easy to get stuck fiddling instead of actually blogging.

I’ve bounced between a bunch of platforms over the years, and the main thing that saved me headaches was picking the one I was actually willing to maintain. Fancy features are cool until you’re spending Saturday nights fixing stuff instead of writing. If you already know your workflow and how much tinkering you enjoy, the right choice sort of reveals itself without much arm wrestling.

In my opinion, wordpress is still the best choice for most bloggers because it is flexible, SEO friendly, and has a huge range of plugins and customization options.

Yes. Google hasn't indicated it but It also trusts wordpress a lot while ranking any website.

Wordpress is still my first choice because of its flexibility and huge plugin ecosystem. That said, platforms like Ghost or webflow can be worth depending on your goals and technical comfort level.

Many years ago, WordPress was one of the best options for blogging for me.
But over time, I moved away from it voluntarily because of loading speed issues. Also, not all plugins are safe, and almost every improvement requires installing another plugin, so you end up loading your site with extra scripts again and again.
That said, for beginners, WordPress may still be one of the best platforms even today.

Millions of users using wordpres snot realize that their quirky useless FSE editor not works when you need LP's more customized page etc...? Try it out to create a portal entry page no footer only a big image/header with fat bold font . You use the template in FSE editor-templates for the Home page and customize it but after you get a whwammmm in the face; Your Home page frontpage loaded on your website is empty and has the damm page title you can't delete, (for that you need to add css code) the home template you cistomized not applied to your Home static page in wordpress and this quirks the wordpress team had done, happens on all pages !
But for you it's a world-class cms right? You have an endless lopp of twisting to make that work when it's possible.
I not have these crazy disturbed silly problems anymore I use squarespace and with their new improvement the 7.1 version that's a world-class cms but not that damm wordpress anymore.

Ghost if you want speed and simplicity, Webflow if design matters, but WordPress gives you the most control for ranking.

Yes you love lots of plugins......and only it works when you use that boring design from the theme templates (FSE) otherwise it will not work with your theme because it's locked by these FSE templates. And the more plugins you use the more it will mess up the core code which is not good for seo. And only a handfull of Gutenberg blocks plugins work, where you have some good free sections/patterns to build your page in edit page editor, the rest have only five free patterns and you must buy the plugin or an cloud library subscription. Load your website frontend, then click on site editor and whammm! It shows you the blank empty template- not the page you want to edit.
The edit page editor you can build there your page elementor which make the while site damm slow or gutenberg , but only within that frame of the template. And wordpress uses an old php database tech, squarespace uses the more modern tech stack of cockroachDB.
When your FSE theme template has not full width, then you can't build your page with full width sections and the list goes on. I not need those headaches.

Yes, WordPress is still one of the best choices for blogging. Its biggest strengths are flexibility, full SEO control, and a huge plugin ecosystem. If someone wants a simple free platform, Blogger or Medium can work, but for long-term growth, branding, and monetization, WordPress is still the top choice.

Yes with all the quirks of these FSE trmplates which often makes it impossible to build your site, I not understand why millions of users saying that wp is a first- class cms. Brain virus? I can't believe it.

While I agree, it is STILL the best option on market currently for all segments, newbie, pro, everyone can use it.
All the issues that you mentioned can now be dealt with with AI to a high level.

I say yes with these conditions; keep it simple only for blogging, without plugins,simple like Seth Godin, then yes it's a good platform - otherwise a big no.
