I’ve got a weird situation on my hands. I’ve got a landscaping client that just started running Google Das on May 8th. After not getting any impressions for a few days, I copy/pasted the campaign on May 11th since that’s helped me in the past. It’s now the 19th and there are still no conversions. The keywords aren’t too restrictive and I’m sure people have searched for them in the targeted zip codes, so I don’t think that’s the issue. There’s no payment issue on the account although it is new and this is the first campaign. I already completed advertiser verification and there’s no obvious issues with the campaign. When I check ad preview, it says there are no keywords matching the search term in my account even though I included the exact keyword and area we’re targeting. The client is getting worried and I’ve run out of ideas.

Hello! Sounds like the account may still be stuck in a review/learning phase or there’s an issue with keyword match types/location targeting. I’d also double-check Search Partners, billing profile country, and whether the ads themselves are actually approved. The ad preview tool saying no matching keywords is a big clue — usually points to targeting or match-type conflicts.

sounds more like targeting or keyword match issue tbh.
if ad preview says no matching keywords then something is off in setup for sure.

also new accounts sometimes barely spend first days, especially with low bids or tight location targeting.

You better post some images so we can know what's going on, but since you're not getting any impressions, I'd double-check the targeting settings and bid strategy to make sure they are not too narrow or restrictive

I wouldn’t start with conversion optimization right away, especially if the account is new and the campaign doesn’t have any data yet.

Right now, it looks like the system simply doesn’t have enough signals: new account, new campaign, very little history, and no leads yet. In this situation, Google can be very cautious with ramping up impressions, and a conversion-based strategy without enough data can often be unstable.

I would first switch the campaign to a simpler goal — driving traffic and clicks — so the campaign can start participating in auctions properly, collect search term data, CTR, user behavior, and hopefully the first leads.

Once there are at least 20–30 conversions/leads, then it would make more sense to move back to conversion optimization

So right now, the goal is not to force Google to find perfect leads immediately, but to give the campaign enough data and movement first.

If you set a maximum price you are willing to pay for a customer, turn it off for now. Because your account is brand new, Google doesn't know how to hit that goal yet, so it is completely stopping your ads from showing. Uncheck that box and let the budget run freely for a few days just to get the ads moving.
