Can someone explain what Tumblr is for?

Tumblr is kind of a mix between a blog and a social platform. People use it to post text, images, videos and gifts and you can follow others or reblog content you like. It is popular for creative communities, niche interests, and sharing media in a more casual way.

You're probably seeing it mentioned a lot lately because the platform is going through a resurrection phase. Tumblr was dead at some point, it used to be a hottie some 15-16 years ago.
