Imagine it's like Reddit, but instead of subreddits, you subscribe to each person's individual blog, where they post all sorts of photos and text that appear on your "homepage." You can send them public or private messages and ask questions for them to answer. You can "reblog" a post, essentially reposting it, so it appears on the "homepage" or "news feed" of everyone you follow. You can also add text to these reposts, commenting or saying something about it. There are groups of people who follow each other, all with similar interests—whether it's a TV show, an activity, etc. They communicate with each other and plan meetups about whatever they're interested in, and they might dress up to attend these meetups if appropriate.
