Does alt text matter at ranking?

I've been only doing title and description optimisation since I schedule the pins and there no option to add alt text on bulk schedule unless i do it manually. Am i missing out like heavily in terms of ranking leverage?

Yes, alt text helps ranking indirectly because it tells search engines what the image is about and can improve image search visibility and accessibility, but it is not a major ranking factor on its own.
 
You need to keep an eye out for new updates or policies to help your channel get better traffic.
 
alt text can help a bit for image search and accessibility but it’s not a big ranking factor for normal google rankings so it’s useful but not something that alone improves rankings a lot
 
are you just copying the description into the alt text field when you do it manually or are you rewriting it each time
 
Title and description do most of the work.

I believe it's worth using all the meta data available.


And a lot of it can be automated or made neatly using some handy tools.

Honestly, not heavily. Title + description matter way more for Pinterest SEO. Alt text helps a bit for context/accessibility, but I wouldn’t stress over it, especially at scale.
 
You’re not missing out heavily — titles, descriptions, board relevance, and engagement carry far more weight on Pinterest than alt text, especially when scaling with bulk scheduling.

Alt text does matter for rankings therefore you should use it whenever it's available.

You are not missing out, just give it some time
 
Alt text helps but its nowhere near as important as title image and description for Pinterest ranking. I wouldnt waste hours manually adding it unless the account is already highly optimized everywhere else. More useful for accessibility and extra context than massive ranking gains.

Yes, you're leaving meaningful leverage on the table.
 
Yeah, alt text definitely matters for ranking, especially on platforms like Pint*erest. You're missing out on some SEO juice if you're not using it, so try to find a way to add them, even if it's manual for now
 
Alt text helps with accessibility and gives minor contextual signals, but titles, descriptions, visuals, and engagement have a much bigger impact on ranking performance.
