Specifically, I write some articles on WordPress and use RankMath. The most common drawback for me is the insufficient number of focus keywords in the text. However, when I add the "satisfactory" number, the whole article seems quite boring and, in my opinion, cluttered with the same phrase.
I decided to slightly ignore this condition, but how important is it really in terms of recognizing the article and how this parameter affects further SEO positioning?

Truthfully, I wouldn't get too worried about RankMath prompting you to throw in a few extra focus keywords. Those suggestions are good for simple optimisation tips, but that's not what really gets a page ranked by Google.

If using that focus keyword a ton of times makes the article sounds repetitive or unnatural, it's normally that which gets penalised rather than the plugin score. In action, I would put the main keyword into your title H1 first paragraph, two or three related headings, meta title and once or twice within the html body only if it fits evenly.

Then vary it with related phrases and answer the question properly. Google in 2026 reads the content better than exact repetition. I have come across articles with an orange RankMath score beat "100/100 green score" articles just because the content was more useful, easy-to-read, and aligned better with the user's search intent. Remember RankMath is a checklist and not the set of rules.

For a 1000-word article, I normally use 2–3 main keywords and a couple of secondary ones. Keeping it natural usually works better than stuffing keywords everywhere.

keyword density is not a major ranking factor anymore. Search engines are now focus more on content quality, relevance and user experience rather than repeating the same keyword many times.Using keywords naturally with related terms is usually better for SEO than forcing exact phases into article.

Keyword density is irrelevant now.
And all those suggestions from RankMath and other similar tools should be ignored.

Google doesn’t rank pages based on how many times a plugin says your keyword appears. It cares more about whether your content clearly satisfies search intent, uses natural language, and covers the topic well.

Focus keyword suggestions in RankMath are only guidelines, not strict ranking factors. If you repeat the same keyword too much, the article can feel unnatural and hurt readability. It is better to write naturally, use related words, and focus on helpful content instead of forcing exact keyword density.

Using natural variations, related terms, and writing for humans first is usually better for long term SEO than blindly following plugin scores.

Keyword density is not very important Just use your keyword naturally in the article don’t repeat it too much Focus on quality content not keyword score

It should look natural in the context it's in

If it's a song lyric and it's like RATM "f u i won't don what you tell me" repeated 100x it's fine because in that context it's legitimate

But if it's plain old kw stuffing it'll only harm your rankings

This is a mandatory rule for ranking. I advise you to use Yoast SEO, this plugin gives tips and highlights what is missing for successful primary SEO ranking.

Third party tools density score is mostly not correct so stop obsessing over it, google is way smarter now and cares more about natural writing and related terms than exact percentages, just hit the keyword in the title and once or twice in the body, then focus on making the post actually readable for real people.

I was always a bit tired of those things. The focus keyword must be in the title, so immediately in the first paragraph of the article. The algorithm seems to be intended for idiots, so we have to repeat the same thing over and over again.
It is hard to write, and certainly to read, and that always discourages me from reading such text.

RankMath suggestions are helpful, but forcing the exact keyword too many times can make your article sound repetitive and unnatural.

Google is now far more capable of interpreting context, synonyms and topical relevance so there's no need to keep banging the same keyword over and over. I tend to use RankMath simply as a list: Include your keyword naturally in the title H1 intro, 1 or 2 headings, meta title and a few natural mentions within the body copy. Then just focus on answering the question appropriately and using LSI terms.

Forget those plugin rules they're just training wheels for newbies who don't know how google actually works, the bots are way too smart for that now and can figure out your topic without you sounding like a broken record, just focus on keeping people on your site or your bounce rate will kill your rankings anyway.

Write for humans, always refactor your content if you're using AI to create it, overall focus on context over repetition.
