tiktok randomly syncing contacts without my permission

i have this account that i wanted to keep private. and from the moment i made it i turned off contact syncing etc. tell me why i wake up this morning and its toggled on? i NEVER done this either. now all these people i know irl are showing up in my friend suggestions under (people you may know). i’m actually having a panic attack, i keep blocking them but more keep showing up. i checked EVERYTHING and everything’s off in terms of contact syncing. what the fuck tiktok?

Even without syncing, accounts can be linked using behavior cues and information associated with the account or the device

Right, I noticed this too. There's a tiktok account I use which I didn't sync with contacts but I still saw people I may know being suggested to me on the app.
 
It sounds like tiktok is overriding your privacy settings and syncing your contacts without your consent, which is a serious breach of user privacy. You should immediately report this issue to TikTok's support team, document all the evidence, and consider taking steps to secure your account further, possibly by changing your password and enabling two-factor authentication.
