I started my business in Netherlands.
Created my website and purchased items, setup social media and other stuff.
I quickly realized how much marketing even that requires. I tried Pinterest ads and I did get good traffic but no sales.

(Btw shopify for websites is crap sometimes the product feeds gets fucked and google couldn’t crawl my website because shopify was sending wrong outdated feeds. Facebook shop can’t access more than 1 region feeds either. Shopify syncs 1 region product feeds only. Figuring that out now. Anyways a lot of maintenance and bills)

Now I’m being told I need to add more products, which I understand. But that also means investing more money, and then spending even more on marketing those products too. It just feels like everything keeps scaling up before I’ve even made my first sale.

I’m doing all of this on my own, and it’s starting to feel overwhelming and exhausting. Guys how do you manage everything with feeling like you are drowning with all that has to be done plus the money u constantly need to invest?

What you feel is completely normal but yeah, welcome to the world of ecom

Right now, it seems like you are trying to run a whole supermarket... however, you haven't even sold your first chocolate bar yet. The more products you have, the more chaos you'll get, not more sales.

Instead, narrow down:

Concentrate on 13 products at most, Repair one funnel (Pinterest product page checkout)

Discover why people click but don't buy (that's the main problem) Traffic with no sales is basically people walking into your shop, looking around, and leaving like "hmm... maybe later". That's a conversion issue, not a traffic issue.

Besides that, don't try to do everything at once Shopify bugs ads feeds, socials... it'll drain you. Choose one thing, make it work, then go together.

Either your system sucks, or your overworrying, and overthinking. If its your system then do something about it, and write all your processes, and expenses down. Take control. You got yourself into this mess, now take responsibility, and get yourself out if it. lol

You should be able to everyday, just sit with the music on and concentrate on your projects, without worrying about admin too much, and knowing where your real pain and positive points are. Admin and worrying doesn't pay the bills but they are essential.

I bet you ahve nothing wrote down, and you are just keeping everything ion your memory, lol amateur! :D Haven't you head that "a faint pencil, is better than something unwritten"?

You’re trying to do everything at once, products, ads, tech, content. That’s why it feels heavy.

Slow it down. Focus on getting one product to sell first, not scaling everything.

Traffic without conversion just burns money.

yeah… what you’re feeling doesn’t really go away, it just changes shape.

even if you push through this phase and start getting sales, there’s another layer waiting.
more orders means customers to deal with, maybe refunds, maybe support tickets at 2am.
Then at some point you bring people in and now they depend on you too.
And on top of that you still have to keep improving your product or the whole thing slowly dies.

so yeah, it’s normal to feel like you’re drowning a bit.
most people just don’t say it out loud.

one thing that helped me a lot, and I wish I did earlier, was forcing some kind of break into my routine. not “scrolling on the phone thinking about work” type of break
actual disconnect.
could be something simple like going out, walking the dogs, gym, whatever clears your head.
Even a short weekend where you don’t touch anything.
Sounds small but it changes how heavy everything feels.
In my case, early on I was constantly glued to updates because of youtube and spotify stuff.
Farms running, clients who bought my software, depending on it, if something breaks, it’s on me.
so I stayed “on” all the time. and honestly, that just made everything feel harder than it actually was.

once I started stepping away a bit, I noticed I came back sharper and things that felt overwhelming before were actually manageable.

you don’t need more pressure right now, you need a bit of space to think straight again.

I’d push back a bit on the “add more products” advice—more SKUs usually just multiplies your problems if the core offer isn’t converting yet. If you’re getting traffic from Pinterest but no sales, that’s a signal to focus on conversion first (product-market fit, pricing, trust signals, landing page clarity), not expansion. Also yeah, Shopify can be messy with feeds, but those are solvable ops issues, not the reason people aren’t buying. Early on, it’s less about scaling and more about proving that one product can reliably sell, even in small numbers. Once that works, everything else—ads, more products, bigger budgets—actually starts making sense instead of feeling like a money sink.

Decide only 1 product that you want to sell, go with it and use only 1 funnel of activity like pinterest to send traffic to your product and people eventually buy it. Don't run too many products at once; you'll get overwhelmed easily; After you have your first sale, focus on a second product etc and scale slowly. Once you have a couple of products that are consistently selling you can think about hiring a VA in order to outscource your work to him/her and continue selling. Good luck!

Sounds like you have fallen into the scaling trap. You are attempting to do everything at once before your sales funnel foundation is properly set up. Scale back everything, and if possible get a good VA to help you sort everything out.

Building a business is a marathon, not a sprint, and it sounds like you're in the thick of it, keep focusing on the fundamentals, like refining your product feed and understanding your target audience, and don't be afraid to take things one step at a time
