In 2026, Google Ads is a different beast. You can’t just throw $5 a day at some keywords and expect a flood of sales like you could five years ago. However, it still puts you right in front of people the second they are ready to buy.
What works right now
- Intent is King: Unlike scrolling on TikTok or Instagram, people on Google are actually looking for something. That "intent" is still the most valuable traffic you can buy.
- AI handles the heavy lifting: Google’s automation has gotten much better at finding your customers. If you give it good data, it does the grunt work of bidding and targeting for you.
- Speed: It’s still the fastest way to get results. SEO takes months; Google Ads takes hours.
The reality check
- It’s gotten pricey: CPCs (cost-per-click) are up. If your product doesn't have a decent profit margin, the math might not work anymore.
- You can't "set and forget": You have to keep a close eye on it. If you don't set up your tracking perfectly, Google will happily spend your money on junk clicks.
- Video is mandatory: To get the best rates, you need to be running ads on YouTube and "Discovery" feeds, not just plain text search ads.
