So I'm building my own mobile proxy setup. I got my first phone connected on cellular data. and decided to check the speed and it was absolutely trash 5/mbps download and 0.46/mbps upload... so i checked my real phones speed on data and got very similar numbers. it was in this moment because i live in the hills the cellular data sucks and im going to have to move houses. unless anyone has any suggestions or idk a house i could leave my phone at or sum lmao current ideas consists of getting a massive battery pack and hiding the phone somewhere with better service and yeah oh i also already started build out my own android mobile proxy app like
iProxy, Proxidize, and DroidProxy so if anyone wants hit me up not quite sure what to do with it at the moment

5 mb/s is not bad at all, comparing with other sites I've ordered proxies with in the past, you usually get 1-5, or a little more maximum.
 
This speed is 100% not enough. It isn’t really enough even as output of a final proxy.
But there are ways to improvement. All steps are independent, makes sense to try them all:
  • Talk to AI about technical specs of phones. You need to know about antennas and modems, due to they hugely affects speed. A definitely good option is for example Samsung Galaxy S10. As a general rule, more expensive phones give better speed. However, if you dig in, you can easily find pretty decent affordable options.
  • Try to disable 5G. Sometimes if your location catches a tiny bit of 5G, the phone switches to it and gives you low speed. Disabling 5G can give you good LTE with significantly higher speed.
  • Walk around your apartment and measure signal in different spots. Speed in different points of the same room can vary a lot.
  • Make sure you’re working with normal operator (MNO, not MVNO). Virtual operators significantly throttle speed. Also make sure you have normal tariff, because cheap promo tariffs often throttle speed even on MNO.
If none of these options give noticeable speed boost, then it really makes sense to look for other locations. For start you can test at friends’ homes.
We have, for example, even farmers who keep phones in cars parked right under the tower :) Of course that’s an exotic option, but even that works.


About building your own solution: it’s a viable option for small farm if you know tech stuff. But you have to understand that this is also not free. You’ll spend on initial development, and very importantly, on maintenance, and on adding each of the proxy features that come by default in commercial solution.
Also, if you go on this journey on your own, separately think through your legal safety, which first of all comes down to logging.

5mbps on mobile proxies is normal in bad signal areas so moving location matters more than tweaking setup. People usually place devices near windows or higher spots or even different city where signal is stable. No point scaling if the base connection is weak.

thank you this is genuinely useful stuff. switched providers and location within my house and got up to around 80 mbps download and 25 mbps upload (on the phone) might keep that exotic option in mind for future scaling lol!

Try give them a chance and see if they work better as the signal and speed can differ a lot from courier to courier and if this is not working you just simply need a better location. Btw for customers is better if your proxy are in city or large aglomerations as they will can create more accounts without being limited

yes this made the biggest improvement did some research on specific carriers towers near my area and got 4x the speed

Your speeds are limited by your carrier signa not your setup tools like iProxy wont fix weak coverage. Instead of moving houses try placing the phone near a window higher spot or use a better carrier or sim . you can also use multiple devices in different locations to balance speed and make your proxy more stable.

yes 100% thank u location got me from 20 to 80-100 mbps

yes 100% ive fixed the carrier and phone physical location. and also im building my own version of iproxy and those other apps not using them. but either my app or my carrier are limiting speeds as of now (like the carrier is recognizing it as "hotspot" or p2p traffic and throttling me or my app isn't functioning at 100% so working on fixing the app to see if thats the issue. lol

Yeah that sounds like a signal issue more than anything else, If your regular phone is getting the same speeds it’s probably just the location might be worth testing different spots or even another network before thinking about moving
 
5 Mbps down is perfectly fine for proxy use — most commercial mobile proxy providers cap at 5-10 Mbps. What actually kills DIY mobile setups is CGNAT rotation: if your carrier doesn't reassign the NAT address on reconnect, you'll burn account trust way faster than any speed problem would matter.
 
Lmao yeah if your actual phone speeds are that bad then it’s definitely just the area. The battery pack + leaving the phone somewhere with better signal might genuinely be the move also building your own proxy app is kinda sick ngl
 
Try different carriers performance can vary a lot. If it’s still weak, switch location. Proxies also work best in major cities with higher trust and fewer limits.

Living in a dead zone makes self hosting impossible, no amount of tweaking will fix that physical limitation. Honestly just save yourself the headache and buy clean static residential proxies from FloppyData, they are already in proper data centers with good speeds. Pair them with Gologin and you will have a far more reliable setup than hiding a phone with a battery pack in the woods.

By the way, another good option for boosting speed and saving mobile traffic is splitting traffic between mobile and wifi/lan. We call it wifi split. You can try to set up something like this yourself.
